If there's no MT option my next truck likely won't be a Tacoma. I have no idea what it would be instead, but if I have to give up the MT I will probably go full size to a Tundra.

Good point, but maybe they specifically want SC for some reason. At this point it's hearsay without some concrete proof.

V35A engine, already exists, it's in the Lexus LS500, why would toyota need magnuson help lol. Toyota Japan tuned and built the engine years ago. The FKS engine in our Tacoma was made back in...2012 I believe, (design).
I have the V35A calibration (tune) and am quite certain Magnusson and or any other company had nothing to do with its conception.

Where did that information come from? Magnuson makes superchargers, not turbochargers, and Toyota already has a proven TT 3.5L, the V35A-FTS.

Speaking of rampant speculation, did you hear the new tacoma will only come in a 45-speed manual transmission that has suborbital flight [trd has full space capabilities] options?

dont ask me how i know i have a guy on the inside thats all ill say

Why don't we keep the thread on OVTuned TT and SC systems?

smashed this, broke that, covered it up with tape and paint
I mean now that you’ve opened this door I’d rather talk about OVtunes answer to the full space capability

Cause I’m gonna want afterburners and better pitch and roll

So I finally come back to some progress... and a single tear drops down my face. Looks like a distinct possibility we'll only be able to run 93? I'm up a creek before we even start, that shiz isn't available up here. I'd have to ship 55 gallon drums of 93 on the barge... :frusty:

92 is available easily so 92 in a 91 or 93 tune should be good.

I would only worry about those times you really need that extra octane point to ward off knock, not performance. So yeah I use 92 on a 91 just for safety sake

Is it that sensitive? Refineries and aftermarket blenders are that accurate? A single RON+MON/2 point?

Does the tune disable the knock sensors?

It may not make alot of difference, but why run the risk? How many points would it take to concern you? If one point doesn't matter, would two, three? And for that matter, why would anyone release specific 91 and 93 tunes if two points doesn't matter?

What if I get a bad batch of 91 or 90 octane when I fill up with what I think is 92?

Like this guy said, there is too many variables and it’s not worth the risk. The octane rating isn’t always spot on and many times it can be lower than advertised

I get it - and that's what I meant, it is often lower. One thing for sure, I would never go full boost on any vehicle running lower than specified AKI fuel. For example, I had no problem running 89 in the winter in my WRX. A tank every once in awhile but never full boost.
