It will completely screw with your emissions. It requires your cats to be removed which I think is a federal offense if used on road. You will have a check engine light and fail the obd2 scan. Basically you need a very friendly smog guy, remove the system every time you require inspection, or move to a state that doesn't have inspections.

Not strictly true. A tuner can turn off codes so that they don't pop a CEL. On my ms3 I ran catless without my secondary o2 sensor. Code/CEL got turned off for me by tuner

Its because the heat in a coffee masks some of the bad flavors. If you look at gas station coffee. When its piping hot, its tolerable if nothing else is available. The heat of the coffee is masking the fact that it is a garbage brew out of moldy machines. This is why once it cools, it tastes like shit.

thats not true at all either. you can still have cats with a turbocharged engine. its not illegal to move them or replace them with an equivalent

I did stop by a smog place and the guy said it would pass as long as all emission equipment was still in place. If the cats are removed it would not pass. Oh well. My county and the one around Vegas are the only ones that require smog testing. Ugh.

this system will remove your cats since they are on the exhaust headers. Fed law says if they are removed they must be replaced with factory equivalent. not going to stop very many people. Just will be marketed as "off-road use only" and people who purchase and install will have to find their own ways of getting around emissions, which they will.

In CA (and any state that uses CA's rules) a CARB EO# is required for any emissions system modification. This includes any changes from the air cleaner to the catalytic converters.

Even replacing a cat with an aftermarket one is a hassle.
    https://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermktcat/installcatq&a.pdf

Now what would be sweet is if it looks like an OEM system. Chrome piping and silicon couplers scream 'not OEM'.

all it takes is the guy infront of you in line to have a stock Tacoma, or the day, week or month before. Hell, my jeep xj got flagged for an exhaust header and you can barely see the damn thing when you pop the hood but the guy knew what a stock one looked like

I think i saw either somewhere on TW or on the 3GT Facebook page that someone was sharing the files for CARB stickers so that you could fill it out and print and slap it on your mods to make them appear to be approved lol don't know what came of it or anything

if you read his link its really not all that simple. I had no idea its such a pain to replace a cat here. You have to have the reason documented and submitted and has to be an OEM cat if its in warranty period (which is 7yr/70,000mi for emissions)

pretty much boils down to: CA never going to happen (legally)
