I believe matt has said several times he’ll write tunes for these other FI systems from various companies. Small upgrade $$ for existing customers

I get that. My point is that if they don't opt to work with him, then what you're buying is whatever they put together.

More power would be great, but the transmission fixes are huge. Losing that for 75hp would be a tough sell.

No doubt a disadvantage for the comp when it comes to tuning. I would imagine they’ll offer hardware only options, but if they don’t, you can always have Mat write you a calibration instead of theirs. Of course there’s added cost in that, but I’m pretty sure it would be worth the additional cost of a hardware only kit was not offered.

I talked with Magnuson yesterday specifically about tuning and they said HP is doing the tune and from what they are aware of nothing has been changed with transmission programming, everything has been on the engine side (but he admits he isn't totally sure about that). He also said that the tuner package will be available this year (just hardware, you tune yourself) and the tuned version won't be available till the first or second quarter of next year. The Tacoma supposedly runs now but hasn't been on a dyno yet and was trailered to SEMA so it seems they aren't as far ahead as they like people to believe.

Deceptions to allow them to possibly get a jump on the competition huh lol :notsure:

Smart when you think about it. As many OVT fans as there are, Magnuson is the bigger company and for every one person that is sold on OVT, there's probably 3 or 4 people that haven't heard of OV and have heard of Magnuson, or just don't care about OV, and so they've been holding out for a Magnuson FI option. Magnuson gets to hype them up after 3 long years and get people talking and potentially ready to buy by making it appear as if everything is ready to go.

And I'd say it's working. The Facebook groups have been full of people posting about the Magnuson announcement and getting super excited about it without even recognizing that the kit isn't actually ready and available for purchase yet. I know Mat has seen some or most of those since I've seen him comment on one or two.

You could argue that the same sort of thing happened when Mat initially had his FI options listed on his website. Hype or excitement skyrocketed as people thought that release was imminent lol

OVTune will crush all the other competitors once we see a dozen videos of our Tacos doing burn outs and AMSRs of blow off valves going VVV-PSSSHHH! Free marketing right there.

Time for some of the testers of the S/C to start posting some pics, comments, videos etc to get some hype going.

We will wait on the TT as it’s getting reworked but time to release some S/C info!!

I can't imagine they would care that much. I think it's quite unlikely we will see them have tunes for the TCU and gears 4.88/5.29 etc.

However they must do something otherwise it will shift terribly and slip.

I never really planned on beating Magnuson in the FI game. I knew many months ago about their SC.

And I know using HPTuners limits you to only tuning the stock tables. Plus who else will be revving these bad boys out to 7000+ rpm? Us ;)

So I am excited to see what I can get out of this blower. It's going to be a very popular mod. (Even though it seems most people on FB are disappointed in the price for the amount of power).

TT will still win on paper and. Everywhere else, but I can't beat Magnuson reputation and marketing.

Anyways it looks like we still have a while before tuned versions of each kit hits the shelf. If you look closely both options look like "display models" and aren't functional, tuning or not. Look at the belt systems, and other stuff.

Honestly not that excited about all of the SC options coming out for this reason. I’ll be interested to see what they can do with Mat’s tunes, but I’m not willing to invest the money in anything other than the TT setup.

You do have some time, one of their IG posts said the units will be on sale in Q1 2020. So not a huge amount of time, but some.

With respect to a S/C......Perhaps, not being able to beat them on reputation and marketing (due to their long term presence in the market and CARB), you'll be able to entice more of us with price/value?

    :D

No doubt, a twin turbo revving to 7k will indeed be what some percentage of the market will want. Some percentage of those people will actually pony up the $ for the kit/installation. In any case, a TT will certainly be a great option that no other vendor is likely to supply. A premium product that could be marketed and sold that way due to extreme performance.

But IMNSHO, if you also deliver a better priced, reliable S/C kit, built for use as a truck (no 7k needed) than the other manufacturers, you will have something that will sell in great (er) numbers (outside CA due to CARB).

And quite likely for a decade.

Im also in agreement that what is needed is a setup which is tuned for a truck, not a race car. Looking forward to Mats tune on the Harrop SC!

He still didn't shipped mines, as you probably saw in the MT thread. If it doesn't fit, I'll find a way to cancel my order as I got them mainly because they were part of the TT setup.
