The new garret powermax turbos are pretty quick spooling. They've changed the geometry on the turbines to help spool faster. These are also "small" turbos so they come on fast and carry power through the rpm range. At the local drag strip guys in the ecoboost f150's were stomping everyone so I'm not to concerned with boost lag.

There is virtually zero lag. I'm in boost at part throttle at 2000 rpm. I see 1-2psi just casual driving.
Full boost is instantaneous. floor it from a dead stop you're in boost by the time the wheels start moving. I am limiting boost right now too.
Response is much much better than the mid mount setup and even then that setup spooled very fast.

The torque comes on strong and smooth, not jerking like when you "hit full boost" in some cars.

I should have a complete run down of everything this weekend, and hopefully will have a time-frame for a release / price / etc.

Before I left my last job we were just starting to test the new garrets with those turbines and it was insane how fast they would spool compared to old tech.

I'm not super familiar with how a turbo vehicle handles on snow or ice but if you're spinning tires pretty easily in 4H does that mean it's not going to be very road-friendly for daily driving during the winter?

Nothing negates the fact that you must have good tires and and modicum of respect for skinny pedal on the right.

Except in a WRX. Gas the fuqer like you stole it and enjoy!

actually that video is with traction control on.

Here is one in 4H with traction control off. at full throttle the truck spins in 4H lol!

this engine just loves the boost.

Hit 6000+ rpm multiple times. truck loves it.

tires are pretty much non stop spinning when boost hits. Torque converter tuning needs a bit of work, doesn't lock much in 4H from the feel of it.

Don't see why not. You will smell your clutch if it starts slipping.
