Yep, base kit will be perfect/ideal for this truck, and all i would want. I wouldn't have sold my previous car if I wanted a rasekor

Yea... I'm with the ladder. Completely building the block is a tad bit excessive for someone looking for 300-350whp. Cramming 30psi of boost down its throat for 450+whp? Sure, build that thing. But for the common man, I have a hard time believing the trucks wont handle a moderate power increase.

Head Gaskets are MLS, I can't find an image of them, but they may already contain an integral o-ring, similar to what Subaru uses on their EJ257 engines. @OVTune is the current guinea pig, and he will find a limiting factor on one, or many, parts of the engine or transmission, but you are correct. As the saying goes, pay to play. I'm a few years out until I can even think about buying this kit, so I will continue following the progress until I can afford one, or until it is determined that FI is not a great idea for our trucks.

Head gaskets are rarely, if ever limiting factors on cars these days. Almost all cars come with MLS head gaskets. The old days of graphite layered head gaskets were the ones that would fail. You're more likely to melt a piston than blow a MLS head gasket

I'm sorry but this fear mongering is based on bad information.
    1. Nowhere does it say our base kit will require an engine build.
    2. Valves start blowing seats from too much head pressure? what?? I've tuned cars that have made 500, 600, 700, 800 + horsepower, 40+ psi and this has NEVER been an issue, because the valve seats have nothing to do with the cylinder head pressure.
    3. Head gaskets blowing from not o-ringing the block??
Once again ^^^ never O-ringed those engines. Hell the EVO I tuned in China, 32psi, Water methanol, 10:1 compression, and 150 shot of nitrous, standard engine build.
    4. usually when you use head studs or head bolts that are not upgraded you don't necessarily blow a head gasket you lift the head and warp it.

Our Truck is the guinea pig..

My 5.7 tundra has 595hp at the rear wheels rolling on 35’s with a six inch lift runs mid 13’s leaving it in drive...the only thing I’ve broken is the transmission in 50k miles.

Not buying into your scare tactics by any means, but are you serious?

They have these magical places called Machine shops. Pretty cool how they work actually. You drop your parts off that require cutting, shaping, drilling, finishing, and other processes. In this case the task of "balancing and reassembly" could be handled there.

Take the turkey call out of your ass and realize that the turbo setup being discussed here is a simple bolt on affair that is being developed by someone who knows what they are doing. Boost levels, ignition timing, fuel, etc etc will all be taken into consideration in order to make this kit work with a stock engine. No one needs to "o-ring or use high-end studs" for shit. The fact you used the term "high end studs" makes it clear that you have absolutely no idea what you are ranting about..

Kinda harsh, but I’m sure the guy knows more about hunting and rifles than a turbo kit development

Just means that the conducted their tests using 91 octane, the engine is designed to run on 87 as well. Might perform better on higher octane, but it isn't required.

Pretty sure it was the same for the 4.0 v6 in 2nd gens, too.

I run 91 whenever I can, it gets funky on 87 - especially 87 ethanol blends

You're comparing apples to bananas here. Most of the people looking to turbo their Tacoma are just looking for an extra 100hp/tq or so, not looking for 1000+whp like the builds you obviously create. Most modern engines (at least from high quality manufacturers like Toyota, Honda, Mazda, etc.) can handle a lot more power than what they make from the factory. Look at the inline 6 cylinder 3.0L TT Supra. People make over 1000whp reliably with upgraded turbo kits and PROPER tuning. Also Honda's S2000 2.2L 4 cylinder motor, completely unopened, can do over 600whp by adding a turbo kit and PROPER tuning. To me it sounds like your builds should have had a better tuner. The tuner should know the limits of what the hardware can handle, and tune to stay under the limit so they don't all blow up.
