There’s gotta be a Denso alternative within spec? I hope

According to Matt, the new plugs are not needed until you are pushing boost to max.

However while I'm under the hood I want to replace them at same time. I'm probably going to wait for them before beginning.

Anything past the base boost of 6-7lbs should probably use atleast a step colder plugs. Yeah that would be ideal “while we are in there”.

Yep this is exactly why we wanted to include them. Changing the plugs out on the drivers side honestly isn't fun.

So with that statement, are you saying we should wait to get plugs before starting installation?

To be absolutely clear, the plugs are not *required*, they are just recommended. You could just use stock plugs with lower gap. But on higher boost, they are required. Changing the plugs when the turbo kit is installed isn't exactly fun.

    here are the plugs.
    https://www.ngk.com/ngk-2309-lfr7aix-iridium-ix-spark-plug

they've been on national back order forever.

Anyways gotta hop off the forums to wrap up these fuel pump kits to send

So it looks like the Denso alternative is the IKh22 which I happen to conveniently have a set in the garage. The IKh22 are also the same ones provided with the trd/magnuson and the URD rotrex kit for the 4.0 Tacoma. Should work just fine, any reason to oppose it Mat?

Looks likes these plugs can be sourced locally. I just did a quick search and every napa near me has them in stock.

    That’s a question for Ovtune.
Don’t quote me but my guess is .032, same as the other applications.

Well at least Matt knows he can source plugs for kits at local automotive hardware stores, I’m still concerned about the piping I didn’t receive. I was aware of not getting the intercooler and piping in front of radiator, but everything behind it should be included. No one can tell me this pipe changes because I run a different intercooler.

The Ngk2309 is pretty easy to get locally at least in my area. Just sourced 6 of them from oreilly 2 blocks from my house.

They are more expensive. 9.99 a plug

The ones on Amazon, ebay, and other online stores that I have purchased from are fakes. Read the reviews, they are all chinese fakes.

any piping from the end of the "Y" on the drivers side and up to the 90* on the passenger coming out of the top of the radiator will not work unless you use the same style intercooler setup we use.
The non intercool version kits did not come with this piping because I've seen the intercoolers you guys have been posting, it won't work. That's why there is a 300 dollar difference in the two, it accounts for the intercooler and some piping.
The intercooler we use doesn't cost 300 bucks by itself.

canceled thanks. I was able to source the ngk plugs from Napa as well locally. So what’s the gap for up to 10psi?

Looks like the factory preset on the #2309's from NGK is 0.032 anyway. Wouldn't be surprised though if @OVTune recommends something around 0.028-0.030 for 6-7psi, and adjust narrower from there as you raise the boost?

gap recommended under 0.028 if more than 7psi.

if you guys actually get the plugs that you ordered please let me know. I tried a few different places all said they were back ordered from NGK
