Ugh. Want my snails done already! lol

Looking forward to them along with the DT Y-pipe to open up that exhaust a little bit more.

Apparently my 3 inch catback made a world of difference.

    I'm sure it did.

I'm keeping my TRD exhaust, the cat back. Went with catted downpipes on base turbos, and then the DT Y-pipe is catless w/ resonators. And I believe it's a little larger diameter than stock, can't remember. I'd have to double check

Edit: 2.25" diameter. So nothing outrageous, but they'll open up flow. And with the resonators, it shouldn't sound like shit lol

Very happy to hear your truck is running good:thumbsup:
I was going to hang on to my URD ypipe to install at a later date after putting some long miles on the turbos and then gauge if I can handle a loud truck again, but I think I’ll install it now so Mat can just dial it in the first time. @Bigetaco22 what turbos did you go with?
    fueling upgrades?

I am on base turbos. They do fade out above 4500 rpm but I'm ok with that because I literally never drive in that rpm range. I have DI upgrade just because I thought I may want to run more but realistically this is more than enough for my driving style. I may install my boost controller eventually but probably never use it.

Overboosting due to the improved flow of the DT Y-pipe and larger diameter exhaust, fitted with the provided 7lb wastegate spring, and without fueling upgrades, @OVTune wouldn’t that put this setup at or beyond the threshold of fueling?

I double checked for the record, the y-pipe is 2.25" diameter.

I did tell @OVTune that I was having it installed along with the turbos and he sent me a map revision to compensate for when I first flash the truck. I'm optimistic that it'll be g2g after logging and I'm assuming a couple revisions

Good to know, makes me think I should be more than happy with 10psi then, I’ll drop the 14lbs out of my head for now.

I am having overboost issues with my 3 inch and cold air. Seeing 10 psi spikes.

Part of the reason why I went with base turbos as well

We will know when we start doing some logs, but with those exhaust mods it's possible, but I think he will be ok.

his Y pipe is 2.25 inch according to him, not far off from stock and he's still keeping the stock exhaust after that..so I don't foresee it being a big flow difference.

However @Bigetaco22 has a 3 inch exhaust, which is way bigger than stock, and increasing his boost 2+psi over threshold.

initial boost spikes are not very worrisome to me. say you "see" it hit 9-10 for a half second and taper down, that doesn't have me concerned.

But if you see consistent 9-10+ to the limiter, that's when the low / in tank pump can be a real concern. Fueling over time, it simply can't handle it and you start seeing pressure loss.

My truck is quite consistent with staying near 7psi. But that's on stock everything, stock super constrictive spaghetti noodle diameter exhaust.

zero reason to get a boost controller. You can only use it to increase boost.

For reference, @Bigetaco22 truck is hitting almost 300 g/sec on the MAF and he is in Colorado, where air density is less and air pressure is usually 2.5 to 2.8psi less than sea level. Usually sitting around 11.9psia.

For the record his truck in Colorado is out-flowing my truck with powermax @7psi. and it's absolutely his exhaust doing it.

This is why extra tuning is really necessary when you have mods like exhaust.

Do you think my exhaust will be a problem? Dual 2-1/2” with a dump valve halfway. Catted DP’s. Powermax, fuel pump and DI upgrade. Might be safer to run a 7 psi spring and use a boost controller?

I thought I was high up being just above 4000ft, but when you consider Colorado, some parts could be nearly double that.
@Bigetaco22, how has the snails affected your exhaust volume?
I’m entertaining a full exhaust w/ double stacked vibrant ultra quiet resonators again. I knew I just can’t help myself and was just a matter of time.

Shouldn't be a problem because you have in tank pump upgrade.
I would advise anyone who wants to run more boost to always keep low psi springs in the waste gates. The 7psi ones. That way you can always reduce boost as needed.

So in my case I am running stock y-pipe with a 3 inch Mbrp cat back. I have noticed that this exhaust actually gets quieter at high rpms which is actually the case with the extra flow. It has a much smoother sound in boost and the turbo noises will definitely keep your ears off the exhaust. I also still have a vibration that my ears have been focused on along with engine noise looking for knock and such. Turbo noise will definitely keep your ears away from the exhaust though.

Can you log boost, or is that only seen on a gauge? If the latter, is there a non-invasive one I can pull off without patching holes or whatever after I'm retuned? I have no idea how they hook in....

You can probably get away with getting a cheap one from autozone that runs vacuum to the back of the gauge and using some double-sided tape for tuning purposes.

For what it's worth, when telling Mat about my y-pipe I'd also informed him that I elected to not run a boost gauge and he said it was fine.
