Lol you have no clue. Makes same engine? Same internals and comp right? I was simply saying for cost and ease of install just made more sense. If turbo are what the guy knows fine but it's all compressed air in the end.
How many fi cars or trucks have either of you defenders of the flame owned? If asking s question on here requires you to best it down for whatever reasons you have maybe dog wasn't there to kick this morning.

Dumb question? How many aftermarket fi systems have you owned in your lifetime? There are no dumb questions and really just wanted to know if it was more reasons then just a "cool" factor industry tends to lean towards sometimes.

There is also good info from @OVTune in the Alpha thread on this engine and the turbo kit development.

I had a 430hp/680lbft 98 Cummins which I built from stock, Toyota Hilux turbo diesel and a mazdaspeed3. I'm converting a 3B to a 3BTurbo for my Landcruiser build right now.

It's just that you came on having NOT read anything on this thread posting the same BS that's been said by ten different people already.

Did you think you had some sort of original concern or something that literally everyone in this thread hadn't considered already? I'm not here to beat on you but seriously.... Don't just read the title of a thread, ignore the content, and shit on everyone.

It's a development thread. Will there be problems? (The guy who's putting down 600hp will for sure lol), yes but none of them should be insurmountable.

It’s cool factor. No one is racing these trucks.

It’s more than cool-factor. These trucks would greatly benefit from additional low-end power and torque. They feel anemic as soon as you engage the 4WD.

Waiting to see some results first on how much low end these provide... when they can engage and provide power, lag etc between the different variations he is planning to offer.

I disagree, but to each their own. That being said, the truck would definitely benefit greatly from the additional low end torque from FI

Mat got his idea for this from the Tacoma having a similar engine to the LS 500, if he can come close to what those specs are it's gonna be a huge help. LS 500 torque rating over 400 ftlbs @ 1500-4800 rpm.

In fairness, I’ve only ever engaged my 4x4 in the hills of PA, and the mountains of Wyoming. The vertical travel factor (and altitude in WY) may be exaggerating the effect. I’m also not tuned, but my only mod is a set of 267/75/18 KO2’s. Really makes me worry about adding the weight of a cap or a winch bumper. For how I intend to use my truck, I hope one of these kits works out, or I might just choose to sell it to get something else.

Ah. I'm tuned, and only at 4k ft elevation, but i have sliders and a bed cap and i feel like it still does very well off-road in both 4hi and 4lo.

Do you feel like the tune made a huge difference?

Yes, both on and off road. The allocation of more torque down low is great in both situations, and very nice off road for hill climbs and getting up over rock ledges, etc, not to mention 4lo on the stock tune had a habit of not maintaining rpm steadily, which was fixed with the tune.

For on-road, greatly improved drivability is the largest improvement and value of the tune.

Overall, with the sliders and topper and frequently having two dogs in the bed and also frequently heading into the desert to pull out people stuck in the sand, I feel like I don't have issues with power. That doesn't mean that the turbo kit won't help though.

I may consider getting the tune ahead of the turbo kit. Seems like I wouldn’t have anything to lose by doing so.

There's that, and you're kinda investing in the turbos anyway then since there will be separate purchasing options based on if you're already an OVT customer or not

Is this confirmed? Is there a guarantee from OVT that this the case?
