I will be wrapping the driver’s side downpipe in two parts and leaving a few inches of the purpose-made dent exposed. The wrap is secured using stainless-steel ties, sorta like metal zip ties.

Another thing to add to the list. I just got all my heat shielding, PCV rerouting, sealant, etc.

What length steel ties are you thinking? Looks like I'll need a steel tie tool too, but those are super cheap.

2.5” downpipe is ~7.85” in circumference, plus the wrap. I got the 15” from ptp, it’s very easy to cut the extra. Didn’t use the tie tool, they’re just like a zip tie for the lost part. Mine haven’t* moved with just a tug.

It is possible to remove or install it through the bottom it's just not as easy unless you make room / loosen your Y pipe

What's your tactic to reshape just enough but not too much.. fill it with sand and hit it with a BFH? heat it and beat it?

Any gurus here that can offer some advice (or a video link) on the best approach to making these adjustments.

probably find a buddy with a cheap press and apply pressure slowly and maybe with heat

on my 2nd gen turbo kit, I used a BFH to massage my crossover tube connecting to uppipe/passenger manifold since it was rubbing against the transmission pan. But the press sounds like a great idea.

Just make sure to support the pipe from the inside or you'll just compress the entire pipe section with the press. Sounds easier than it is.

Yea that’s a good point. It could just smash flat lol. Hammering might be better

Without seeing the exact challenge.. I would think using a press brake or cutting/welding are both likely to change the angles of the downpipe's mating surfaces.

That’s my plan. Already bought a section of 2-1/4” 304 to do it.

Edit: I’m in TN, if you can’t find anywhere reasonable to do this I wouldn’t mind helping out for parts/shipping cost.

    Isn’t the downpipe 2.5”?

I think you guys are way overthinking this. The section isn't that big and you shouldn't need a JIG or to cut it etc etc. It just seems that *a few* downpipes did not get the bend in that spot enough. That does not mean *all* downpipes have this problem.

Are we talking about BENDING, or DENTING?

Sorry not *bend* it's a dent. The pipe is squeezed at that section to clear. So it's not round, it's ovalish.
