This would be ideal if you have only 1 can

(actually put the 1 way valve on the blue line on the catch can)

That will work. Pretty much what ov said above. Like he said, put the check valve right beside the manifold (if you put it on the other side of the can you will boost/pressurize your can). No need for the check valve on the breather side though. If the breather is on it's own catch can or line you want it to flow both ways freely.

There are a bunch of different ways to run the pcv/breather system depending on how much you are willing to spend and how effective you want it to be. This picture below is what you mentioned doing. That will work.

For a 3 port can as you described, that's fine. It's actually 1 in (center port for PCV) and 2 out (side ports to intake pipe and manifold). You can tell if you look at the inside. Whichever one goes through the media/coalescent is your PCV port.

Here is a way with a single 3 port catch can. Downside is your breather won't get filtered, so if any blow by comes out of the breather, it can get pulled into your turbos.

A second check valve goes between the catch can and the intake (but not between the breather and the intake- note the tee is after the check valve)

Here is a setup with 2 catch cans. This one allows the breather to be filtered to prevent blow by from getting into the turbo vanes. This can is able to be smaller since there is less blow by from the breather.

Here is a setup similar to what OV uses. It runs the breather through a catch can with filter to open air.

You can do this without the catch can, but you'll end up with oil residue all over your engine eventually since any blow by won't be caught by a can. It'll just come out of the filter. Never run your breather open air without a filter as this is a free entry into your crankcase and will contaminate your oil.

This setup can be done with a two port or three port catch can on the pcv side. Three port is better as it allows filtration under vacuum AND boost (two port only allows under vacuum).

    Three Port vs Two Port:

Three port allows scavenge under boost (through the intake pipe) and under vacuum (through the intake manifold)
    upload_2021-3-3_11-35-17.jpg

A two port will only scavenge under vacuum through the manifold. Any pressure relief under boos will go through breather side, but if no catch can, it will deposit blow by material into the turbo vanes
    upload_2021-3-3_11-37-57.jpg

If you want to have scavenging during boost and vacuum with a two port can, you have to run a second can on your breather side. This will filter anything pulled out of the breather under boost.

Thank you both! I'm going to start with the single 2 port/breather direct to intake just to clean it up and get rid of the leak. ordered a 3 port and will use that in conjunction with the 2 port on the breather side.

@OVTune do you log files redone after this is completed or are the files i sent ok?

That is the setup I'm using now. It will give you the most scavenge and allow unrestricted breathing, all while allowing full protection for everything in the system.

Here is mine. My PCV lines aren't shown, but if you look carefully you can see them running along the firewall.

Before logs verify it fixes your stumbling idle. I think the catch can setup is the cause

How safe is the base tune? Is it dialed in enough to where it can be ran everyday. The fine tuning is much appreciated but sounds like it might take awhile.

When are you going to be shipping turbo kits again? Any chance they're ever going to be CARB approved or do I need to move to a free state?

Pretty sure you’re going to be looking for a free state.

OVtune you had mentioned designed a catch can for this kit. Is this still a possibility?

@OVTune ok. found the leak. smoke tested the engine after fixing the catch can routing problem. big leaks coming from turbo/silicone interface all around. I couldn't get a good seal with the wideband t-clamp so switched to a narrow worm gear at all 4 i/o's and that did the trick. Cleared codes and will take it out a little later to see if I can make trip a code again while keeping throttle low. then back to logging.

I’d like to hear more about this, I could look it up, but I’d like to hear more about this smoke testing. I loosened those clamps when installing, would be interested in just testing my retightening. Care to add more?

basically it's a little machine that pressurizes the engine via the intake and introduces a harmless smoke. you are able to see where leaks maybe coming from. in my case, the turbo inlets/outlets were billowing smoke so i knew i needed to tackle that.
