Not in the minority at all. I'll bet only 5% of the Taco owners modify their trucks, and of that only about 5% probably want race trucks. Most people want this for street legal fun/driveability and some additional towing power. I also want it for higher altitude driving. It does alright in Denver, but when you start getting to 8000+ ft in altitude it really struggles. I'm keeping my eye on this thread, but if he doesn't have a street-legal kit I guess I'll have to wait for Magnusen. :(

Mat said that the 2GR-FSE does 400whp+ with 7psi. Lotus uses a supercharged 2GR that makes 400-430hp. A turbocharged version should be able to produce more hp with less adverse effects on the engine because you aren’t driving a supercharger with a pulley on the crankshaft. Supercharged engines use engine power to make boost whereas a turbocharger builds pressure in the exhaust and that drives the turbine.

x2 for no race truck. If the power isn't under 3000 RPM, I'll never see it.

Try towing a 2500 lb trailer up to 11,000 feet. THAT was fun..

I will say, the truck did better than I expected. Thank god for the gearing in the manual.

I towed 2500lbs and a full truck bed up to 9000ft. I agree it did surprisingly well, but it would have been so much easier with more power.

I too am interested for torque/towing. The lower the RPM the better. If reliable, turbos should be a winner.

I don't think there is a set date on 1.05. With all the new stuff from Toyota Mat wants to make sure it's done right before release. I'm willing to wait..:hattip:

I'm even more in the minority, I want my taco to be a sleeper. I guess it's because I came from drag racing :burnrubber:
