OVTune Tacoma 3.5L Auto - Transmission / Engine - ECU Reflash

Anybody in Portland, Oregon that could help a noob on this? I would pay for your time on the first run-thru of this

 

@SpeySquatch, never posted vids or links before so if this doesn't work sorry. This is hopefully a link to everything I used, yours might be a little different now with the smaller dongle & flash manger. But follow the directions & it goes good. Never tuned or flashed a vehicle before, did it first try & loving the way the truck runs.

I guess I am just nervous doing this via Windows on my Mac.
Are you using 87 or 93 octane? Also 1.03 C?

 

Just ordered the ECU flash today. Hope it arrives expeditiously as I am super pumped about this improvement. I am glad we have this forum for support because I was originally on the fence about this.

No, but I wanted to. I'm gonna have to wait in line like the rest and pay up. I've just been waiting on the 18 flashes which will be coming out he said next week.

Please be patient, and if you ever get this sinking feeling like you've been ripped off because you haven't heard from Mat in like an hour or the shipping info hasn't updated every 10 minutes (or some other crazy stuff), please sit back and think before going completely ape shit on here or the dev thread and calling him everything but late for dinner.

It's nuts how many times ppl have made themselves look ridiculous in this way.

Looks like this is delivering today. Hopefully, 6 months of following this thread allows me to be a first time go at this station.

 

I'm not sure what you mean.. could you re-phrase?

Edit: Your truck is a 2016 OR A/T, so there are up to date flashes avail for it now via the flash manager app. Only the '18 A/T files are not avail via that route, but Mat has been emailing them directly to customers. Not sure what else to add, but one of the A/T guys would probably be a better source for help.. I'm a M/T guy!

I am just curious if there will be new ones (flashes) that occur right after mine arrives, or is this like a monthly update. Sorry for the confusion
Also, is 1.03 C the ultimate right now, or do people prefer prior flashes?

 

They aren't monthly, this is only the 3rd (I think) iteration of the tune. Matt will post up when he's fixing/updating. He's said there is another tune for those who really don't care about MPG's but not sure when that will post, then he's working on his Twin Turbo setup/tune. so 1.03 will probably be the last tune for a couple months at least (unless he has tweaks for the surging or throttle I'm assuming)

don't know if the Alpha or Beta versions of the tune are still available, but sounds like everyone pretty much likes this tune as a whole much better than the previous (some liked aspects of the older tunes ie throttle tip in)

 

I just received my confirmation email for my order. Can anyone tell me what this means?:


"Once your Software is setup you will need to use our calendar scheduling system to schedule a time for your tune.
You can setup a time for base tuning (30-60 minutes) or for a complete tune from start to finish (180 minutes). This will complete your entire remote tuning in one session."

 

No problem, I understand now... The update process is based on feedback from us, the customers and R&D work Mat does with his own truck. They do not happen at regular intervals. Not to worry, all updates are free and you'll have access to them my friend.

1.03B and 1.03C are M/T tunes, with the manual trans community kind of split on which one is better. The latest A/T file is simply 1.03 AFAIK, and it seems like there will be an update coming sometime in the near future..

 

That doesn't happen with this tune.

I see, so I just have to email them my data, get a file back for my tune and then run the process according to the instructions at home at my leisure?

Also, what is the difference between ECM and TCU in the image?
