P.I.N.S on 4th of July weekend?

Heading to PINS for the 4th anyone else heading down there? We will be leaving Saturday morning butt crack of dawn early from Waco and heading that way to stay the till Tuesday.

Yeah camping there. We will be driving as far down as possible. Hoping the sand is good enough to get to the jetty so I can get in some channel fishing.

 

I made it to the channel three weeks ago. Sand is not too bad. Just make sure to travel at low tide. There are a few areas about 40 miles down that are difficult to pass at high tide.

 

Im debating if i want to make that drive! Im in dallas and maps is saying its a 7 hour trip.

 

Yeah we made the channel on Memorial Day weekend without any issues. We were just there for the day. Hopefully they will get some rain down there this week and get the sand in good shape for travel. I feel ya on the drive it is 5 hours for me from Waco.

Saw several nice Tacos on the beach this past weekend and had a hell of a time. Back home now had to shorten the trip because one of the folks that went had to be back to work sooner than the rest. Truck did great, all my mods worked as they were planned and all the extra weight got great fuel mileage. Averaged 20.5 on the way down with a head wind and 21.7 on the way home with a tail wind. I carried 900 lbs of gear with out the 65 gallon fresh water tank full, thought I was at 1100 but I guess I weighed something twice before the trip. Took on 50 gallons of fresh water in the tank before we hit the beach. Truck handled the load great for stock but I am going to do something with the rear suspension to handle the heavy loading a little better maybe sumo springs, maybe some Dakar springs or both. All in all great trip, good times, good friends, good food, cold beer and PINS!
