I the past weel or two my truck has been starting funny... I turn the key all the way and i hear the starter click once then silence then it engauges, some times its 2seconds or 10 sec. Well today it was taking a long time 30 - 40 sec and the CEL came on and the code was P0345 which i guess is the cam shaft position sensor. I cleared the code and proceeded on the truck is running fine, just the starting issue. Then it would not start... it took about 15- 20 tries to start and the code came back on.. So i got her home from the shore and getting ready to figure this out. Anyone have this happen before??

Thanks For the Info Chris. I going out to see if its going to be a loose connection or did i screw it up at the Wharton scratch and splash. I think if it were a problem with the actual cam shaft she would be running good...? Hate electrical issues

well this is how it went down at the stealership.... told them about the code and the guys response was " Great a customer that thinks he knows it all" I was like WTF ! I told him not to shut the truck off because it will be hard to get started. He shut it off and was like "well you were right it didn't start back up". Yeah no shit why do you think i'm here. Anyhow they said the starter went bad and is not covered under warrenty.. Ok what about the code well it looks like your truck has been under water and there are wet contacts on some wires under the hood.

I didn't have time to fight that starter so i had them do it at the price of 472.12.... well 95.50 of that was them telling me that the code P0345 yeah no shit thats what i said...

checked for the price of the starter and it was around 200 so i guess it wasn't that bad... MMMM Yeah that will help me sleep better...

Thanks again chris for your help>

Could have rebuilt the starter too, theres a few shops around that still can do that kinda stuff..... lot cheaper.

yeah i don't really have the time nor did i feel like fighting the removal of these startes they are jammed up in there. Its just stupid that a starter is such a process they should be easy.

I just ran into the same issue with my 07 Tacoma. Did the starter ultimately fix the problem?

I have just gotten this code and starting issue with my 07. To all others who have experienced this problem, did replacing the starter permanently resolve the issue?
