This is covered by Toyota on their dime! Call the dealer.

    P2443 code definition

Secondary Air Injection System Switching Valve Stuck Closed Bank 2

    What the P2443 code means
P2443 is an OBD-II generic code for the engine control module (ECM) detecting the exhaust pressure sensor is detecting no exhaust pulse when the bank 2 switching valve is commanded to be open while the engine is running.

    What causes the P2443 code?
    • The engine control module (ECM) monitors the exhaust pressure sensors to determine if the air injection system is operating correctly when it commands the switching valve open and closed.

    • The code is set when the air injection system switching valve is commanded open and the sensor is detecting no exhaust pulse indicating the valve is stuck closed or the sensor is defective.

Unfortunately the extended warranty only applies to 2012 v6 models, if the OPs profile is correct he has a 14. But yea the majority of the time it's the switching valve, sometimes they can be taken apart and cleaned but most of the time they must be replaced.

Yeah I kinda forgot about the year thing...

OP report it anyway at least they will have complaints on file and may follow up later.

Correct. Toyota stepped up and covered the 12’s. Supposedly fixed the issue on the 13’-15’s.
Any other 13-15’s experienced this issue?

I wouldn't say fixed but the shutdown purge that 13-15 models do certainly reduced SAIS component failure, it's also a good idea to keep an eye on the filter in the SAIS pump or do the UNI filter mod to further reduce the chance of component failure.
Tons of threads/info about the secondary air injection system on here if you use the search (google search at the bottom of the search menu works best) and put in secondary air injection or SAIS.

Looks like OP replaced those parts.
If I were him, I’d take it to the guy that “fixed it” and tell him to fix it again.

@bhova Happy to give you some resources on the failure prone Secondary Air Injection System. The Secondary Air Injection is failure prone and you can spend all day reading horror stories of owners trying to address. The question is not "If" it will fail but "When" it will fail. If you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out, DM or give us a call.

    @hewitt-tech
    Thanks for reaching out.
For anyone in Cali experiencing this code, I’d explore the Hewitt-tech bypass kit.
I first went with my local mechanic buddy. After pulling his hair out, he accepted defeat. And then to the dealership I went. Had my first smog check due in a couple months so needed to get the CEL off in order to smog. Dealership said no prob, be back to ya quick with a plan of action. And then I heard “we’re gonna have to run this up the flag pole.” Translation? We got no clue either and now we’re just hoping we can figure it out.
Came down to throwing new parts at the truck. Eventually CEL turned off and the SAIS is operational again. Oh and the $2k it cost to “solve.”
Genius’s up the flag pole couldn’t remove the uni-filter mod fast enough. Like that was the reason the SAIS was causing problems!
So between 2 shops, I figure the bypass kit coulda/woulda saved me about $2k.
For all those in states without emissions laws like Cali, enjoy the freedom.

Apologies for reviving this old thread, but is it Cali legal? Say, could I still pass smog if I was missing the SAI unit? My truck is at the shop right now under extended warranty to fix it but they've spent 4 days just diagnosing it when the code literally tells them what the problem is....bank 2 being stuck. About to spend a fortune on diagnostics fees from the most incompetent dealership I've ever dealt with if my extended warranty doesn't cover the specific reeds that are stuck. This is the second time I've brought it in, because the first time those people swapped the foam filter, thinking that would resolve the problem, and didn't realize that it takes two drive cycles for the code to come back on. Just the amount of money blown on weeks missing work and needing rentals along with their 200/hr fee is gonna make me snap

Secondary Air Injection System Bypass Kit
@Codeka Glad you found the thread and more than happy to walk you through some of your questions. That said. I must state that It is illegal to remove, dismantle or otherwise cause to be inoperative any pollution control device required by federal, state, or local emissions law. Our bypass kits are sold for off-road, competition or other emissions exempt vehicles only. No other applications are intended or implied. By installing or using this SAIS Bypass Kit the vehicle owner and installer acknowledge and assumes ALL risks associated with its use.

Our recommended solution is the Gen 2 Bypass Kit. It is our most comprehensive bypass kit that will address both mechanical and electrical SAIS fault codes. The only codes it would not address is any related to damaged pressures sensor. If you had a damaged pressure sensor then a kit addon would be required. If you provide us with the current codes we can more confidently recommend if an addon would be needed. That said, if your pressure sensor, factory wiring and ECM are all in good working condition all you should need the Gen 2 Bypass Kit.

    Gen 2 $395

    - Our Gen II kit emulates the operation of the SAIS and ECM reads as Ready/Completed. It also eliminates all trouble codes dealing with the SAIS with the exception of the pressure sensor. Installs at the Air Injection Driver and Air Switching Valves.

+ Covers both mechanical and Electrical SAIS error codes
+ Compatible with Toyota's current ECM Computer flash
+ Compatible with Flex Fuel Modes
    + Clears permanent codes

    Kit Addon
    Pressure Sensor Replacement Single $225

It is also important to note that our Bypass Kits are engineered to work with Factory/OEM components. If the Air Switching Valves have ever been replaced with aftermarket parts this could cause the need to purchase Pressure Sensor Addons in addition to the Bypass Kit.

Please do not hesitate to give us a call if you need any further clarification (844) 307 - 7671
