    Ok since no one @ autozone or whatever can't really help me I will ask you guys. I have tried so many different products to remove some king of thick oil paint or something on my headlight and it makes it look damn ugly. How the hell do i take this off?[​IMG]

    Have you talked to a auto detailing place that offers "headlight restoration"? It's usually like 45-50 bucks and they can take the yellowing and stuff out of a light...Might get that off too.

    I'm not really sure other than that. Good luck!!

    Finger nail polish and some elbow grease works fairly well to remove the yellows from HL...

    my headlights arent yellow its just that black blog of paint thats on it that wont come off. I've tried mothers, meguiars, and even acetone

    ahh shit... didn't even see that...

    can you "feel" the paint? Is it raised? Try a razor blade but be really careful -- you could also sand it down.

    No way...Those look like plastic lenses- I wouldn't sand or try to razor those for fear of messing them up.

    I've sanded mine on my MX6 on multiple occasions... it's all about using the right grit and technique. :D

    Sanding is how "the pros" get the yellow out of headlight lenses.

    Very carefully work at it with the edge of a credit card.....get it off physically if possible rather than using a petroleum distillate or, as suggested, nail polish remover (arrrghh!). Then get some plastic polish and buff it.

    hes right, even in the restoration kits you buy at your local auto store comes very fine sand paper. but if you can feel its raised then carefully scraping it off would be your best bet...

    Magnaflow cat and cat-back exhaust, AFE Stage 2 cold-air intake system, 2.5" lift via Skyjacker leaf packs, Bilstein 5100s.
    Try WD-40. It will clean up just about anything. My wife used to use it to clean crayon off the walls of the house! If that doesn't work, go to the hardware store and buy a window scraper (a razor blade in a handle).

    i'll try WD-40. but you can't scrape it off without damaging the lense. They are plastic. Im probably going to experiment and end up just buying some black headlights. I guess it will be the guinea pig for the time being so we can have some what to's and what nots

    This is what I use and have had excellent results. 3M Rubbing Compound(Clear Coat) safe. Part# 03900. This stuff removes most minor scratches, swirl marks and water spots. I also use it on my lenses to return them to their new, original transparency. I live out in New England (Currently) and all the stuff they put on the roads during winter creates an oxidized build up on the lenses. The 3M compound removes it safely. You can find this at Auto Zone or any other auto parts store. I think even Wal-Mart carries it.

    Heat the paint up a little with a blow dryer and use a razor blade to carefully scrap off the bulk of the paint, then use a buffing compound to remove the rest, such as the 3M Rubbing Compound, or 3M Polishing Compound. I would suggest a Polishing Compound as opposed to Rubbing Compound as it is finer.

    A fellow waiting in line with me at a car parts store the other day said his car wouldn't pass inspection because the headlights were a bit yellowed or sand-blasted. A buddy told him to spray Pam (yes, the frying pan kind) on it. He did, and passed the inspection at the same place that denied him a couple days earlier. I haven't had the need to try that, but...
