I have a brand new 2011 DC 2WD TRD Sport in dark grey. Yesterday I was sitting in a parking lot eating my lunch when I noticed through my windshield what looked like a few large smudges on my hood. The sun was shining directly on the hood so I wrote it off as a shadow or a water spot.

When I got back to the office of course the spots now stand out like turds in a punchbowl since now I know they're there. When I get out I realize that they seem to be inconsistent color spots on the hood. The color is lighter in about 4 random spots. Has anyone else seen anything like this? It's not real apparent but now that I've seen it I keep seeing it, murphys law.

Yeah, I'd take it back to the dealer and have them repaint it.

Take it back to the dealer, and show them the problem. That light discoloration can happen when there isn't enough paint applied to cover any light-coloured primer areas on the hood. They should paint it for ya, no problem. Plus, the colour of your taco is really easy to match, and in my opinion, one of the (technically speaking) best colours Toyota has to offer.
