So for about a year I have had some scratches on my bedside that I have needed to get fixed. Well one day I go out to my truck and notice someone scratched the crap out of my gas cap door and above and below it. Weird looking scratch about 2 - 3 inches wide in three spots.

Anyway I decided to take care of it and since my comprehensive deductible is 100 bucks they had me pay 200 for two seperate incidents DOH!

Anyways I took it to a reputable shop where the had to completely repaint the entire bed. So after about 4 days I go back to pick up my Black Sand Pearl taco and it is parked under a shade tree looking freshly waxed and sweet.

I drive home and get it out under the sunlight and BAM! My bed and cab do not match at all. There was way too much pear/ /blue metallic in the paint and in the sunlight the truck bed was completely blue.

I had to deal with it for about a week because I go to school out of town where I had it painted. I called the owner at the shop and he was shocked to hear it of course but was totally cool with fixing the problem thankfully!

So long story short I dropped her off again and when I went to pick it up I asked him what the hell happened to begin with and apparently the color code for the Black Sand Pearl is 209 from the manufacturer of the paint. Well they have variants in the formula that he told me was literally 3 drops of the blue metallic that made all the difference in the world.

Truck is repainted and matches perfectly now! I am so happy it is fixed and not shinning blue anymore LOL

But yea if you have to get repainted watch out for the color code variants!

Either that or the guy fed me a crock of shit and they just F'd up to begin with, either way thats the story.

It's good to here that they didn't hassle you about fixing it. Good info.:)

Interesting that a specific color code has variants...That seems to defeat the point of having a color code.

Glad you got it taken care of tho!!

When I painted my grill, impulse red had 6 or 7 different shades. They had
to take the color samples out to the truck to get a good match. My first try was from Napa. Not even close to the impulse red color.
