    the playing cards worked very quickly, they were rigid and durable and stayed in place quite well and didnt take nearly as long as masking it all off and it also allowed some paint to get as close the tire as possible so the entire rim looked painted, and they were something like 50 cents a pack lol. I havent taken them wheeling yet but they have held up well so far, no scratched or chipping whatsoever. The dealership sells them, they are the trail teams edition fj cruiser center cap, part number in this thread

    Looks great! One question....did you use a clearcoat at all or just a glossy black paint. The threads I've read, no one seems to use a clearcoat and I was curious why? I guess it makes it easier to touch up later...

    I didn't clearcoat cause I didn't want a glossy finish...Most of the paints are durable enough that clearcoat will keep it a bit better..but not much. It's not hard to patch anything up with the right tools/supplies...

    Works for me....I printed out the post with the step by step guide. Hopefully I'll get a free weekend soon so I can go ahead and try it. I've always envied the silver tacos with the black rims. That's such a clean look.

    Why let that hold you up?? if the salt chews thru them you are out 20 bucks in paint and you can get them powdercoated...:D
