It certainly looks like you sanded enough, but hard to tell if you need a slightly lighter grit or not to smooth anything out. There's nothing wrong w/ doing a quick once over w/ 150-180 grit. You wouldnt need to spend nearly the amount of time as you did to get to this point. Just a quick pass or two to knock down any deep gouging. But I agree that if you have the sandable primer, it should be able to fill in most sanding marks. A couple coats of primer, wetsand, then another coat or two. :)
Remember, prep is the ultimate key to how your project turns out.

iirc, you're supposed to apply the first coat of primer w/in 10 minutes of applying the AP. See what the can says.

You want to get all the chrome off. The paint will not stay on especially since its on the front of the truck and takes tons of abuse from road debris. You can chip off one edge and then use a really high psi pressure washer to get most of it off. Then as others have said use a fine grit sand paper to prep it. Be sure and use adhesion promoter. Go lights on the coats until you get full coverage and then a cpl coats of clear. The thicker the paint is, the more prone to chipping it will be.
