I think that is going to be the only way to go. I looked back over the schematics last night, and I didn't find anything. :frusty:

ndcouch - you don't have DRLs. once they are on (engine running out of park), the only ways to turn them off are to shut down or turn on your headlights.

Viet2100 - on the 2nd Gen Tacomas, you can have the DRLs on while you have the parking lights on. 1st Gen Tacomas aren't the same - they actually have a wire that can be cut to disable them.

So what years have the DRL's?

Any 2000+ can have DRLs, but in the US they are only an option. In Canada, they are a requirement (as with most European countries).

Gotcha. why would anyone want them as an option? if i want DRL's i just turn on my headlights. Besides, they just make you go through bulbs faster

Well, on the 1st Gen Tacos the DRLs are the headlights, but on the 05+ Tacs the DRLs look like this...

Unfortunately, this is the ONLY way to get these lights to come on with out cutting and splicing wires (aka OEM setup).

Ok, sweet. so there is a relay in the fuse box inside of the truck underneath the dash? i can just remove the relay? wish i knew more about electrical systems. is it like a fuse that i can pull? Yeah there is no way to just turn the off, no switch or adjustment anywhere. you are right they do turn off when i turn on my headlights. but they stay on the minute i release my parking brake and drive during the day. Thanks for looking over your schematics, if you happen to find it let me know thatd be great. or if you could give me the 411 on a relay and tell me how to disable it, thatd be cool too. THanks for all of your help everyone...preciate it.

yeah, just realized you already look at the schematics, im an idiot. ok where is the wire? which one is it? ill cut a wire for sure if i know for a fact it will disable those ugly orange lights that are always on and wont affect any other portion of the headlight assembly. I just need a little help figuring out which wire or where the relay is....thanks again dude. that was way cool.... :)
