Much discussion has been done about what has changed for the 2016, but I thought it might be interesting to talk about what hasn't.

Looking through the catalog at a few of the things, and as suspected, many parts have carried over into 2016, and not just a seat belt buckle.

Among things that have remained the same:

    - Clutch pedal and master cylinder
    - Manual transmission case and many non-gear internals (2TR-FE only)
    - Front steering knuckles
    - Front sway bar and end links
    - Upper control arms
    - Front drive shafts (on some models)
    - Front shock mounts
    - Rear leaf spring bushings, shackles, spring mounts and u-bolts
    - Rear shock mounting hardware
    - Front brake rotors, calipers and shims remain the same, however the pad material has changed
    - Rear brakes
    - Brake master cylinder, though the booster has changed
    - Steering components (steering rack, inner and outer tie rods)
    - Air filter and oil filter (2TR-FE only)
    - A number of frame crossmembers (though fewer are sold separately on the 2016 frame)
    - Spare tire carrier
    - Rear floor pan and reinforcements (behind front seats)
    - Non-sliding back glass on 4-cylinder models
    - Door weatherstripping on access-cab
    - Battery carrier/hold-down
    - Fuel tank and "skid plate"
    - Fuel filler neck
    - Throttle pedal
    - Interestingly while the front hubs changed, the bearings themselves remained the same
    - Rear wheel bearings and seals
    - Inside rear view mirror (models without HomeLink or Auto Dimming)
    - Cabin air filter (though a charcoal-type is now listed as being available - 88508-04010)
    - Lug nuts
    - Muffler (2TR-FE only)

This is by no means a complete or comprehensive list, just some stuff that I had been curious about and so I looked it up.

Once again, beat me to it. I checked before I went to bed and it still wasn't updated. Wanted to see if the bed shell was the same, since people like to argue over things around here

Nice. I'm having the tires & wheels that I have now - 285/60/R18 moved to the new
one when it arrives, they may rub and may not, if they do it'll be great if the current level kits fit.

but will the new oem rim fit the vehicle you have now?

I am wondering since I have the trd 16" black rims on the 12 Tacoma that I would rather have on the 2016. the new sport comes with P265/65R17.

Dealer and their mechanics have already said yes, no issue with the fit on either.

well I did a quick compare so it should be almost a perfect swap from the 16 to 17 rims if they fit.

    Thanks OP.

Would love to get Toyota's Chief Engineer "Seat Belt" Mike Sweers comment on this. Mr. Sweers went on and on about every part changing except the seat buckle.

Look up the definition of hyperbole. Folks took his comment literally when it clearly was not.

I'm going to over to the dealership at lunchtime. "Someone" stopped answering my emails, and there's a reason I'm infamous around here for getting answers. I'm going in all sunshine and kittens, but my "Marcellus Wallace" will be on deck and raring to go.

I know what hyperbole is, but I would expect that from a comedian, a politician or a sleazy salesman - not the Chief Engineer of one of the largest auto manufacturers in the world.

I work with engineers on a daily basis and they are a dry lot, bound by codes of ethics set by their professional associations that they must belong to in order to practice. Trust me "hyerbole" is not allowed in any professional communication - to client, regulator, whoever.

^ If I accepted your statement as correct, it means Sweers made a mistake. It doesn't make him a liar. Which so many around here seem anxious to do: vilify someone because they can from the shelter of their keyboard.

OMG dude. Can you make up anymore excuses. He made this mistake several times....first it was hyperbole, now it's a mistake...what's next, he was drunk those times he said it?

Do you work for Toyota? It are you a politician?
