A good place to start would be the LT suspension forum to get some ideas of the suspension you'll be upgrading to.

I don't think the money I have has anything to do with asking for help on a parts list so I can have a idea of what I should start with

Theres a double cab black prerunner on craigslist posted today with solo front kit, dmz rear kit, bedcage, and everything done to it with only 60,000 miles for 20,000 obo. I promise you selling your truck and buying that will be a lot cheaper.

I sold my old tacoma instead of building it and bought one half built and even that ended up costing me more. Long travel is a crazy expensive beast because its not just buying a front kit and coilovers and doing spring under and shocks in the rear. You have gussets, bumpers, fiberglass, shocks, coils, tuning costs, then you want to cage it, bucket seats, wheels/tires, maintenance. Its nuts.

If I could do it again I would have a stock tacoma dd and a way cheaper already built older truck thats already built to be my toy.

Welcome to TW! Its easy to misinterpret what some people are saying on here as intrusive or pessimistic, but most are just trying to help. In this case I'm sure he meant to be prepared to spend a lot of money because it it expensive to go full blown long travel. It also depends on what you want to do with it also so a budget is a very good thing to start with because you can easily spend more than 20k if you want to link it with a full cage and have good bypasses and coil-overs all around. But heres a list I would go off of for a good basic long travel. Since it is your daily it might be a good way to go.

    1. upper and lower control arms ( +2" or +3.5")
    2. 8" shocks with reservoirs ( optional to run two shocks here for bypasses)
    3. New shocks for the rear, preferably bypasses with a small bed cage to get a good amount of travel
    3. Wheels, wheel spacers if required, tires
    4. Spring under axle conversion kit (SUA Kit) with new leafs
    5. Bump stops front and rear, Mounting system for bump stops
    6. Limit straps front and rear
    7. Fiberglass bedsides and fenders
    8. Bumpers front and rear
    9. Gusseting wherever needed or wanted ( Cam tabs, spindles, uca mount, engine cage, boxed frame etc..)
    10. chopping/clearancing for tires and such, body mount chop or relocation for example.

Im not an expert at long travel because I just have mid-travel but I know these here are the basics. Another good thing to do also is to look at peoples builds in the long travel thread to get an idea of exactly what people are using. Good Luck:thumbsup:
