I forgot to mention, the driver's side is starting to do it occasionally ( same ticking sound, whereas the PS side did it every morning), but DR panel doesn't bother me much yet. The speaker cover doesn't even touch the A Pillar trim like the passenger side. I'll pull the DR side trim off to see if the foam insulator as shifted if I have nothing better to do. LOL

ALL cars are quirky. I've worked on a few in my 40 years of existence....and still working on them occasionally. I'm on the design side of things now and we discuss this stuff frequently with the engineers during our feasibility meetings when we're closer through mid-phase on a project for "fit & finish" topics.

My cab is so quiet now, that I'm focusing on other sounds, like the can of Old Spice rolling around in the glove box.

I've got a couple loose rounds of 5.56 from a class I took a month ago. It's in that cab under the seats somewhere..... LOL

Trying to locate—and fix—rattles has been something I have needed to do on every one of my vehicles. It's like playing Whack-A-Mole while driving down the road sometimes. Rattles that can't be reached from the driver's seat are the worst! I have a rattle in the rear hatch of my '08 R32... I'll need someone to drive while I lay back there pressing and pounding on each panel.

Headliner sounds coming from sun roof surround mounting points. The 3m industrial velcro is not locked together. Around 8-10 1" tabs around sun roof. Check with flash light with sun roof open

I'm pretty sure have the same issue. Asked dealer to fix at 5k service and got the standard "could not duplicate". I'm a first time Toyota owner, and I'm quickly learning that you have to actually ride with the tech and rub their face in the issue before they will acknowledge the existence of anything that may require diagnostic. They did the same BS for the differential whine and transmission issues I'm having. Dropping it off and hoping they will find your issue is just a waste of time. Standard practice is "could not duplicate".

I'm planning on taking off the A-pillar this weekend if I can make time. Rather than take everything apart and felt every contact point in the dash I'm going to try to isolate each piece and test to hopefully identify the true root cause. The adhesive on the foam sounds to me like the most likely cause given that this issue only happens to me when the truck is cold (<50 outside and before I get the heat going inside the truck). If it was plastic rubbing, a loose clip or bolt, or wires, I suspect it wouldn't be as temperature dependent. Just a hunch.

Here's what mine sound like. More of a creaking noise than a rattle. It is very unique.

Thanks for your input zac! Please try and help everyone figure this out. I'll update the first post after I get a few hundred miles on it first. So far, mine is still quiet and it was 45F when I drove to work the morning. Makes a bunch of other noises, but the main one hasn't come back. I'm sure it's more than one location in that corner. Mine sounded exactly like the video that haikin posted and in my original post.

Well it is getting colder here in Texas and all the sudden I have the rattle. I came straight to the forums and searched the posts......and found the same rattle in this post. Good info here, I am going to have the stealership deal with this and show them this info.

Sorry, but that would drive me freaking nuts.....Hopefully mine never starts sounding like that. I hope you can get that rectified.

    Awesome, thanks for the update!

I've updated my original first post after a few hundred miles. Still quiet, but makes other noises, because I'm trying to listen for a particular one. LOL. But the other ones are normal.

Y'all are great. I followed OP's advice to a T and the rattle is gone. 44 degrees this morning and no noise what so ever.

Thanks guys for the updates! Mine is still good also, but I've also resolved all of the following ones that have lingered. I'll update my original post. That adhesive backed felt tape works wonders!

Toyota creators just fucked up , because I have a 2016 scion ia and the dash rattles like crazy, and the transmission fucks up on the gears just like I heard about the Tacomas, same things are happening to my 2016 scion!

Pulled mine off today. You can tell where there is excessive wear and tear. Bought some velcro from Walmart, hopefully that will do the trick.

I've just noticed a sound too. Mine sounds more like a rattle/loud tick than adhesive sticking and unsticking again. Also, the sound only starts after about 44mph. Anywhere below that speed and it is completely silent.

Before I go in and do the A-pillar fix, I was hoping if anyone has any insight as to why the sound would only start after 44mph, and do so very consistently. I can't imagine a rattle in the interior would be speed-related since interior vibrations feel very much the same between 30mph and 45mph, for example. Thanks in advance.

That's exactly the sound and circumstance I am having on my 2017 Off Road, except the noise in my truck is coming from the headliner...I think from the headliner just above the rearview mirror inside center control area at the headliner. Any idea how I can access the noise in this area??

It's the harmonics coming from the driveline also, not just the engine. There's so many moving parts, each vehicle may differ a bit, but this thread is dedicated to the dash/ A-pillars for now. I'll be updating things to the original post as I see newer/better solution from all members here, so no one has to dig though pages. Good luck with your attempts on resolving this seemingly common issue with the A pillar.

I haven't gotten much noise from that area yet. Well, not annoying enough for me to drop the headliner because it's a lot of parts to remove on the interior trim to take a peek. I'm sure the overhead console comes off easily, but I haven't had a need to pull that yet. I'm sure someone on here has done it or perhaps a vid on youtube from *********. You're not the first one to post about this specific area though.
