I know there are alot of window posts here, but I can't find any that address my problem.
I have a 1999 Tacoma and one day my window got stuck as I was trying to put it up (power windows). It got all crooked so I put a hand on each side and pulled on the window. It then closed ok. Before that I always heard a loud noise as it would close completely.

I finally took the door apart and figured out the window is not attached the the scissor brackety thingy. I can pull it up off the bracket if it's half down. However, I'm not exactly sure how it should attach to the bracket or if the bracket is just old and the joints now have too much give which allows the window to get crooked.

I thought about taking apart the driver's side so I could compare, but honestly, I don't want to have to bust the plastic on that side too...

I looked up new brackets and it looks like they only come attached to the regulators and motors. My motor is fine.

    Suggestions?

the window has brackets mounted to it which a bolt on each end of the window connects to.

the scissor bracket has a hole on each end where the bolts go through to join the window to the window scissor bracket/regulator

it sounds like your window has a broken mounting bracket or it has separated from the window. I think you would just need to reattach it but I don't know what type of bonding agent it uses.

this is what the brackets look like: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fit-Toyota-Tacoma-Window-Door-Glass-Channel-Clips-for-Power-Manual-W-Tips-/181397050170?fits=Model:Tacoma&hash=item2a3c1b533a&vxp=mtr

this is what the window with its attached bracket looks like: http://www.ebay.com/itm/For-1995-2004-Toyota-Tacoma-Pickup-Front-Door-Window-Glass-Passenger-Right-Side-/121499980771?fits=Model:Tacoma&hash=item1c49f693e3&vxp=mtr

Shoot. Yea, it looked like the window should be glued to a bracket in the back. So originally, I tried some RTV on it, but then I noticed after I put the window up, the window actually pulls away from the back bracket in order to align itself in the top slot (and the noise I hear when I put it up is the window trying to align itself). Lame part is, this window was replaced not too long ago under insurance bc it got sandblasted. Long story short I was sorta forced to take it to a body shop which works on Lambos and ofcourse they treated it like crap. I've had problems with this window ever since then and I bet they didn't install it correctly since they first tried to give it back to me un-tinted (the original was tinted).

well this shows how to reattach the brackets https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMxPyLat06Y

and spray your window tracks with food grade silicone spray so its not binding

hard to know what they did or didn't do but maybe they just got the window itself and glued your old brackets to it. perhaps they used the wrong glue or didn't clean the window properly but it might just need a little clean up and the correct glue except the popping you described sounds like stuff it there was doing things not meant to move like that so perhaps things in there are broken.

its not hard to do so pull it apart yourself to see what is going on in there and see what you need to fix it.

our door panel screws are attached in a little different spot but its very close to the same so look at this to see how you do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5Cw44t7h4o

Hmmm. Well, I called an auto glass place and they said the clips come attached so I have to buy a whole new window...however, I also noticed that the window the old shop installed is not even oem.
Not sure if I should try to fix mine or just buy oem. My driver's side window is original and I've never had a problem with it...

this one is a new replacement glass: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1995-2004-Toyota-Tacoma-Passenger-Door-Glass-Right-NEW/360354478310?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid=333007&algo=RIC.FBT&ao=1&asc=20131022121729&meid=73b4957b89dd4afdacf2bd3b08cc6853&pid=100005&rk=2&rkt=12&sd=191593264259&rt=nc

these are oem originals from salvaged trucks:
    http://www.car-part.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?userSearch=int&userPID=1000&userLocation=USA&userIMS=&userInterchange=BF@DDN&userSide=&userDate=1999&userDate2=1999&dbModel=73.26.1.1&userModel=Toyota Tacoma&dbPart=277.1&userPart=Front Door Glass&sessionID=200000000000000000805798553&userPreference=grade&userZip=70068&userLat=30.1499&userLong=-90.4621&userIntSelect=1574807&intDate=1999&userUID=0&userBroker=&iKey=&userPage=2

tinting is easy but there are some at the bottom of page that are already tinted, just stick to the "A" grade parts, less grades may have scratches or other issues like cloudy glass from etching and most first page listings are the same quality as second page items, the first page ones are just overpriced in my experience. call them to confirm and these places can have big differences in shipping costs so definitely look into "total" costs including shipping to compare them. as to the tint, they one you get may be a different shade or color then yours are so you may still have to tint it but its worth a shot the one you buy will match.

    Hey! Thanks for the links!
Way cheaper than my quote ($205). I actually called the shop that originally installed it and they told me to stop by to see if it was installed properly bc if not, they will replace it. They also told me that if it's a faulty window, my insurance should take care of it.
If neither of those work out, I'll definitely purchase from one of these links!

well keep in mind the first (ebay) link is for a "replacement" glass not an "oem" replacement glass so it might be the same thing they put in the first time. since the prices are not that different I would go with the used oem glass since I know its a good quality glass
