So, I'm at the dealer having them take a look at the truck for getting the extra leaf. Should I have to pay anything for this, even if it gets denied? What has been your experience?

    Thanks in advance.

If it gets denied, then the only way to have a dealership perform the TSB would be to pay out of pocket. However, if it does get denied, there are much cheaper and better alternatives than having the dealership do the work. If the work is covered under the TSB, it's warranty work and you should not have to pay anything out of pocket.

So any "diagnostic" fee would be BS, correct?

Shouldn't be any fee. If you get deinied like I did, call the 1-800 number and tell them you have a harsh ride. They'll make a case number if your VIN matches up. Seems easier to get the TSB with the case number

Shouldn't be a fee if they're a decent dealership. I've taken my truck in for a problem, took 3 times before it finally recreated the problem while it was in the shop. I was not charged a diagnostic fee for the other 2 times.

everything done for the TSB is free. if you plan on leveling the fronts to level out, do so before you get the tsb so you can take advantage for a free alignment

I had mine done a few weeks ago. I explained to the toyota technician that I work in construction and always hauling something and tired of the truck bottoming out when going over a bump. I then explained that i did my research and a TSB was issued for this same issue. The technician looked into the problem and ordered the parts. It was all free for me, Toyota even gave me a free rental car for the day. but i did see the invoice and if someone had to pay out of pocket from the dealer it would be around $1800.00. Ouch. I would have done it myself with aftermarket parts.

I just told the parts rep that it was riding like shit, he went outside and his "diagnosis" consisted of him putting one leg on the bumper to see how rear end would compress.
Got an appointment the next day to get it done.
