There are guys on youtube in Minnesota and Wisconsin that ride them all the time. Ballsy bastards. They even put a ski up front and ride them in the snow :O

God i couldn't even imagine lol. They had a Suzuki 450 with a full blown rear track and front ski at the local bike shop. Never seen one in action in person but they're supposedly ridiculous. The kit probably costs more than the bike itself lol.

brent, make sure you take the go pro and get plenty of footage when you take that baby off road for the first time! If you have any questions ask away, there are a ton of motorcycle enthusiasts on the forum as you know!

Nice! Sounds like a list I like! Haha
Oh I will haha I think it'll good for me to drive it around back home away from a bunch of cars. Ton of dirt roads and easy trails to learn on.

I think I said it in another thread. After I stalled it a couple of times in front of some cars I was worried that it wasn't a good idea while we were eating. Then we got back on and I loved it again! Haha

First bike i rode by myself was a DR650. Stall after stall after stall after stall. Couldn't get it. A few years later i hopped on a drz125 kids bike and thrashed the hell out of it, had the bug ever since. Now i am chasing the dream. Should be on a bike by the end of the summer if all pans out properly

Yup, I'm just going to practice over and over in the middle of our pasture to get the clutch figured out while I'm home.

Of course, once I feel comfortable on my feet again. I'm sure Monday I'll lower it as much as I can through the preload and forks.

Cool bike! What is your plan for it, keep it off road trim/trail bike, daily commuter. I always thought it'd be cool to convert something like this to sm trim and just be able to goon around on it. Have in with it!
http://www.motostrano.com/mobile/Category.aspx?id=1820 heres some possible options for sm

Most definitely, but I'm not letting that stop me! Haha
    Thanks!

Right now I'm just keeping it where it's at, but I'd like to have a set of streets and a toned down fender for daily and then have a set of knobbies and the stock front fender for when I want to play around in the dirt. That'll be a ways off though.

    Wow, nice! Haha

The guy I ride with tried to talk me into getting a CBR250 instead since it was cheaper and was a lot easier to sit on. But after he drove mine around a bit, now he wants a dual sport haha

Good call on the dual sport for sure. Much more versatility with a 250cc dirtbike over a 250cc street bike. I was giving a Ninja 250 some serious consideration a couple years ago but very glad i never followed through with that.

Also, on the topic of getting a feel for the clutch. I've found on my 250 2-stroke to give it a few blips of the throttle while letting out on the clutch so it wasn't such an abrupt 'grab' i guess. 2 strokes naturally tend to bog on the low end so it took me a few rides to get a feel for how my bike acted. Every bike will act differently but you'll get it figured out in no time

it has a learning curve, but wont take too long before you figure it out!

best practice, is to sit on it in first, and just let out the clutch untill it hits the grab point, feel the bike roll then pull it in before it dies. a pasture might not be the best place to start, just because its sort of soft and unstable, but you should be able to roll around on the bike slowly without ever touching the throttle, just let it grab roll and pull in and repeat. then after you have figured that out apply a little bit of throttle as you let the clutch out and roll into more throttle.

Yeah, my friend with his CBR1000 wants one now haha

Yeah, I'm not used to how stiff the shift is to neutral. Feels just like shifting into any other gear rather than feeling slightly soft.
Yeah, I did that in a parking lot for about 10 minutes yesterday. Just need to spend more time with it like you said.

Signed up for the next basic riders course which isn't until August 13th... But it's better than nothing I guess haha

You'll get it. The bike will wear in as you get more comfortable with it and things will be easier to operate

My BRC class is July 11th :p
