    Good afternoon
I have a 07 Tacoma and the paint on the hood is peeling really bad. Is this common and what can and should I do about it.

If it's the clear coat, yes, it's a common problem. If it's the paint, sounds like something different, as KingOfTheNorth mentioned.

^This. Until then, if you're talking a good amount (surface area) of the paint is peeling away then sounds like your hood needs to be repainted.

I guess the only glimmer of hope might be if your color is super white then perhaps you can take it up with Toyota?

Ok, I'll say it. It's a 14 year old truck. Do you really think any manufacturer is going to do anything about it?

And I want to add….if you don’t take care of your car, how do you expect your paint to last a long time?
My dad used to wash his cars with tide detergent…..and then say Toyota has shit paint. Didn’t even last 14 years on the Avalon.

use proper soap. Hand wash. Wax it or ceramic coat it a couple times. Dry it properly

X2. Y’all have some unrealistic expectations if you expect a manufacturer to take care of peeling paint on a 14 year old truck.

Let's give OP the benefit of the doubt before piling on him about expecting Toyota to repaint his truck for free. Although one might draw that conclusion from his general worded post, he never explicitly asked that. However, I will say there have been enough paint peeling & failure threads around here lately with folks crying that their 15 year old truck should be covered by Toyota for free, so it's only natural for us to assume this thread and OP's intention is heading in that same direction. Until then, he first needs to provide some more details.

I also have a '07 Red with only 130K on it. I "didn't" wash or wax it enough (1 or 2 times a year) and had to park it in a industrial area for 10yrs. The hood and top (some on the doors) has the clear coat problem. Yes, it's all on me!!! Today a "good" body shop gave me a price of 5K maybe more to repaint. I'll do a rattle can first.
Looking for a way to remove the clear coat but not the paint.
On the plus side, It is still a Great Truck!
