Some aluminum bullshit, some steel bullshit, some plastic bullshit, cut some stock bullshit off, replaced it with more expensive bullshit and pinstripes.
Yeah I gave up with putting the o-ring on the cap. I’ll chalk that up to being for the set screw as stated earlier. The supplied o-ring went into the internal groove easily and I can feel it pushing up on the cap. I mashed it down and tightened the set screw. I’m going to pump the spindle with grease later when I cool off from being annoyed

Some research from this thread HERE has yielded that some people run into issues with some fuckheads unlatching their swingouts in parking lots and when they take off, the swingout swings open at full force causing damage and parts to break.

Roger, mine is so tight that the average crackhead wouldn’t be able to open it without knowing the trick to it. But I’ll see if I can get any ideas

So the idea I came up with just now is putting a short bicycle chain/lock through here:

Yeah it’ll rattle around (maybe snug it around the handle?) but it shouldn’t be too bad and of course you would remove it for off-roading

My truck had been sitting for about 2 months in the PNW. I went to open the tire gate and the latch/lock assembly is rusted shut. Took a dead blow hammer to it hoping that would loosen it up but that just broke the piece of place you pull the pin out with.

Any suggestions? I have lived here for less than a year and the rust is taking over fast. If it stops raining for a week I'll strip it down and repaint but I have got to get this gate opened first.

So far I have tried sticking a thick tent state through the small hole on back side and hitting it, hoping to force it out. I also attached vice grips to where the plastic handle would be and trying to knock it loose. Nothing.

    PB blaster next?

Sorry about the issue - PB blaster is always good for breaking down the rust. If this or other suggestions don't work please let us know.
