Resolved the water, dirt and mud concerns into the intake today. After replacing fenders it leaves the intake scoop pretty vulnerable. Since a snorkel is not a great option with glass fenders why not try something else. Big thanks to Wicked 2007 for the layout.

First, turned up a reducer with a collar that could be clamped into the wheel well
    [IMG]

Then knock a 3" hole thru the cab where the antenna was, carefully to not mess up anything on the inside. Also need to cut away a bit of carpet and insulation on the inside
    [IMG]

Slide 3" flange adapter into hole with generous sealant and rivet into place
    [IMG]

4" Aircraft ducting around the factory intake scoop and hose clamp around intake tube
    [IMG]

Attach 4" ducting to reducer and then 3" ducting to reducer and into 3" flange adapter. Clamp down and done.

I was wondering what you had going on there in the Live thread. Doesn't that mean you have to always have your windows cracked so you don't vacuum yourself into your intake?

LOL. Nice! You putting some sort of air filter on the open end to keep out any of those unwanted napkins?

Is this intake something you are going to be offering on retail? This is an awesome idea and I'm surprised that I haven't seen this before!

The intake was something that another member came up with and I basically copied so it really is not mine to "offer". The fact that it is directly engine related I think it is a bit risky for liability reasons. I would be more than happy to help point people in the right direction for parts however. Wicked 2007 is the guy with the great idea, thanks again.

I will post up a video as soon as I can get it loaded up that might give people an idea of sound, you can hear it for sure but its not horrible. There are drone spots under load but not too bad. I have a video blasting thru the heavy silt near plaster city with my foot in it pretty good, you can hear it there, sounds pretty badass.

Got in some good testing on the rear bumper this weekend. Got to smack it on a couple rocks pretty good and it performed really well, took it like a champ. Without the hi-clrarance I would be in the market for bedsides, tail-lights etc, you get the idea. Ran it at speed and vibration and hard hits in the dezert too and it worked great, overall I think it is going to be a good addition to the product line

So I already podsted this on the run threrad we were on but I shot a little video and tried to get some audio of the sounds from the in-cab intake I did. The audio isnt great but you get the idea, sounds pretty good when you put your foot in it but can be a bit droning at certain rpm's

nice vid to show the sound. I would compare it to a cone CAI intake noise. For me it only growls a little and only under heavier acceleration - on the highway and around town cruising its virtually unnoticeable IMO.

Nice to see it working well - in condition dusty like that, with this intake you may never need to change your air filter :)

When I originally put this on my truck my air filter was a mess and it was only 3-4 months old. I also found several large rocks in the intake! My biggest concern was water - for crossings and with winter rain coming I finally figure I needed to do something.
