Got all the mockup done, happy with it. Cutting the real deal material now. Had a new press brake delivered this Tuesday, waiting on the installation peoople to get it up and runing then I'll be bending it up and welding. We are getting close now, just waiting on the install, holidays are slowing things down. Unfortunately e got rid of the old brake so its just a waiting game now.

I really can't wait to spend some of my cash on a custom piece of steel from this guy. After speaking with him on the phone I wish he weren't so far away, but after the call I'm glad I spent both of our time on the phone. I'll be posting pictures of a hidden winch mount with shackle mounts for a factory bumper in the next few months, as soon as I can justify the cost. Christmas and my sons birthday will have me wiped put for a bit.

Any news on the rear bumpers yet?

    Haha, cute kid!!

I just got a new press brake and am playing catch up for a week or so and then doing rear bumper. I'm finally happy with the design and will be putting one together in the next few weeks.

So to give you an idea of the changes in the rear. Its mostly in the outer corners. I brought them in tighter and cut the corners a bit. The original design was nice but I did notice those corners grabbing a little dirt from time to time. The reason they were that way was to allow for a hi-lift mounting point, the shackles work just fine for that so eliminated them. The lower end of the sides are just a touch higher as well. The spindle on the swing out is larger and has a zerk fitting as well. The main thing is the latch. I originally went with the de-sta-co pull latch thats so popular but I dont trust it so I have now gone with the Synergy suspension fail safe latch, more money but much better design. Here are a couple shots of what the basic design will look like. The spindle still needs to be trimmed, its drawn to scale so disregard how it protrudes thru the bottom.

Looks like your putting in quite a bit of behind the scenes time man! Can't wait to build one of these things!

    Impressive to say the least.

Coming from an aerospace manufacturing back ground, nice work. My Son (grown) is looking for something exactly like that but in a "tire gate" version. He does not like the vertical spare sticking up over the top of the bed like most swing outs available, and doesn't want to just lower the unit for obvious reasons. He says the "tire gate" at least leans the spare cab forward to reduce visibility loss (he works oil field and spends a lot of time in reverse apparently). Once the design is complete, any chance of getting one with a gate to meet his purpose?

The way to do this would be to get the bumper without the swing gate and get a tire-gate as a separate entity.
