The bumper with swing out is appx 200lbs. That puts you at about 300 fully loaded with tire and fuel. I have the 3 gal gas and 1.75 water, with tire and all the goods it seems to be about perfect for Expo springs, actually a very good combo for off the shelf springs.

Ok thanks Tyler. I was planning on getting Dakars but now I'm thinking the Expo's are a better bet with all that weight hanging off the back end.

Both are a good combination as long as you add the additional leaf in the dakars. I have had both and the subtle difference seems to be slightly better flex from the expos due to lack of overloads however the dakars feel better while towing my trailer. Ride height and feel is almost identical.

Dayum, was hoping the Dakars by themselves would suffice.

The extra leaf is only 50 bucks and a hour of your time, no big.

You guys do awesome work. I'll definitely be looking you up when I build by next taco. Do you think you could build something like this?

    truckbed_zps446e6400_1cf1cd2c20f79fa1b43547de9e3691719d8aaef2.jpg

Just in case you can't tell its a frame for a bed rack with a retractable motorized roof top similar to the retractable tonneau covers. Ideally, I would want some kind of hard covers for the sides, front, and back to make it like a camper shell that would allow me to still load my motorcycles into the back and use as a rack. I came up with the idea a while ago and designed half-assedly it on AutoCAD the other day when I was bored. Apparently someone owns the patent rights to this concept as of April 2009, though :/

Hey Tyler a couple questions... With either the high clearance rear bumper or even the stock replacement, is it possible or cost worthy to have the hitch actually out the bottom of the bumper so that its available at all times? I dont need it for towing really anything, but I usually roll around with a bike rack in the hitch. And with either bumper can you keep the spare in the stock location?

Second question regarding the bed towers; Could those easily be shortened in height? Im thinking closer in height to the weather stripping of the rear window or less.. but still a little higher than the bed rack? And can those tie down hooks from the bed rack be incorporated into the bed towers?

    thanks

We would add a hitch at the bottom of the bumper for light duty things like a bike carrier no problem. both bumper allow stock spare location to be used.
The bed towers are totally adjustable, just let us know the height and we will make it to order.
    Thanks

That's actually a bitchin' idea...I'd want the OEM replacement bumper with Tire gate...hidden hitch, backup lights...but also, figure out a way to have a bolt on hitch for light weight stuff, say up to a couple hundred lbs if need be...THAT would be awesome.

I guess really the only difference would be adding a piece of metal on the tubes to fill in between the grill and the lights. Just like his plate bumper has
