Saw that, but the hook that came on my winch is a bit big. Felt kind of cumbersome to hook it in there... maybe I will, we'll see.

Reminds me though... do you have a good source for shackles? And what do I need for the recovery points in the bumper 3/4"?

That's perty. Did you win that too? They gave one of those away at the Expedition Portal event back earlier this spring.

Standard 3/4" shackles work. Some of the cheap Chinese ones run big and won't fit however. The smittybilts are one that runs big.

I just put some smittybilt 3/4 shackles on. Off Amazon...they fit fine...took the 'made in china' stickers off :)

Some smittybilts fit some dont. They are all over the map. The standard 3/4" dring has a 7/8 pin which should be .875", the bumper holes are .920". Some of the cheaper ones run big is all ya gotta look for.

Wow totally never thought of that. One thing I did think of, if it's cheap Chinese metal, should I be worried about snapping if I were to use for a recovery?

Na, should be ok. It's always a good idea to use a choker type of setup to tie into both d-rings however. Helps with frame stress

Yea that's what I was thinking to prevent to much stress on either side.

Yes Sir! I'm working on my Pelfrey Points as well. Have had my 2012 front bumper on for 6 months and have the rear HC bumper being built right now. Expecting a PM or e-mail notifying me the she is built and for me to pay the balance any day now. Getting twitchy with anticipation. or perhaps it is thinking about cutting off the rear fenders on a year old truck..:)

Since the bed sides have to be cut anyway, you could do some practice runs BELOW the actual cut off line just to get a feel for it. Use a couple of layers of masking tape too.

Making a practice lower cut sound like a good idea. I have a dremel type tool with good cutting discs, or a bigger 4.5" angle grinder with thin cutting discs. Thinking the little "dremel type" might be best because it can be precicely controlled (once I determine where the cut needs to be).

On the MASKING TAPE: Do you cut through the masking tape or along the edge of the tape?

^ Cut through the tape. It helps to keep the paint down so it doesn't chip or peel when cutting. I would also use more than 1 layer of tape.

The first cut is always the hardest, after that, you kinda want to cut more stuff up on the truck! :)

I use the blue tape and a hand shear, it cuts slow but controlled and accurate. Small imperfections are hidden by the rubber trim I provide with the bumper. I use a cutoff wheel in the lower rear corners where it's double thick and coutoured. Also on the flare.

I like that hand shear, does Eastwood sell that tool? A garage full of tools and still need more....

do you have any pics of the rear high clearance bumper on the floor, not installed? A co worker asked me how the sides are supported from caving in. I said I didn't know but I would find out
