54357854-6FB0-4C3A-B87D-8A5D1AD231D2.jpg Anyone have a Pelfreybuilt bumper in a state that requires a front license plate? I just moved to a state that requires a front plate and it appears there are two holes lower on the bumper for a license plate, but I don’t see any way to access the back of the holes to put nuts on the back of the bolts. It seems completely closed off like you would have to mount the plate from
the back before putting the bumper on. I also think it’s kind of low and won’t display the plate very horizontally so I don’t want to attract attention from the man either.

I don’t have a winch and don’t plan on getting one so the second option I thought of is just some straight brackets that would span the winch gap and run bolts through plate and brackets with lock nuts on the back. Looks like I can reach in some of the other cut outs to be able to do this, and plate would be more horizontal and higher on the bumper.

Third option is to put top of plate just above winch cut out and drill two new holes and bolt it on.

I have seen some threads that talked about a flip up bracket that mounts on Pelfreybuilt and other aftermarket front bumpers with two small bolt holes that would have to be drilled. I’d consider this if anyone has any experience with one, but all the links didn’t work since Pelfreybuilt is no longer.

    Any ideas appreciated!

    Thanks

look up the Cascadia4x4 flipster, they make a nice flip style front plate holder:
    https://www.cascadia4x4.com/

as far as getting your hands back there, you have two options.. 1) remove the bumper 2) find a child with tiny hands/arms that can squeeze back there

You can use one of these to put nuts into the holes so you don't have to reach around the inside.

It's a real pain but it is possible to mount a plate with the bumper on the truck. Having a second set of hands makes it easier, but I've done it by myself when I had to change plates.

What model bumper did you have? This Pelfreybuilt bumper has holes pre drilled that match up with a license plate, but reaching in the larger holes cut in the bumper it seems completely walled off behind the license plate holes.

idk if there’s strong magnetic holders
Or a way to put quick disconnect

    you can drill mounting holes

or do what most people do without issue which is not run one

Pelfreybuilt for my 2.5 gen, maybe it's a little different. There should be a space. I circled it here on mine. Should be a hole below the winch shelf. Reach around under the frame right there and you should be able to get in there. You really have to give your bumper a big ol bear hug to get it done.

Looks very similar to my bumper. How did you access the back of the provided license plate holes? I tried reaching in the circles to the left and right of your plate and it seems completely walled off.

How did you access the back of the pre drilled holes to run the bolts? I just tried for a good bit reaching in the circle cut outs with a 6inch extension and had no luck. Could see bolt tip from the front, but it’s a weird angle so I couldn’t get it through. That area seems completely walled off on the sides I guess as a block to mount a winch on.

In front of the LCA mount, above the skid plate theres a place to get your arm in. I put my bolts facing outside. But just gotta do one side at a time

I tried reaching in there, but on my drivers side there are metal hose lines in there so I couldn’t get very far without getting hung up. Did you have to get by those hoses?
