Current Event: Labor Day Weekend BnB Trip

    Aug 31st

    Current roster:

    Alfuh
    section 8 tundra
    TacoMater
    Bretleg
    kriskross

    Rules For Each Event

-For wheeling and demos, safety is number one. Treading lightly will be observed as well.

-Any vehicle welcome, but remember we are focusing on Tacomas.

-Try to keep it clean. I want people to feel OK about bringing their family

-Skill and/or vehicle restriction will be noted in the event listing

-All vehicles must be in working order

-Although we keep things safe, please bring all your recovery gear. Straps break, winches fail, and not all of us have all the tools we should.

-If you do not have proper recovery point and if you ask for a recovery from me, I will ask for your permission to attach to what I feel is safest. If your vehicle becomes damaged during this rescue, you will assume all liability.

-Please bring a CB if you have it. It makes coordination on the trails much easier.

-If you damage your vehicle on the trail, you are responsible.

-If you break someone else's recovery gear while getting recovered, it is customary to help defray the costs by paying for some/all of the replacement cost. Remember, if they weren't there, you may not have a vehicle at all!

-If you get your gear damaged by someone and it is not part of the recovery process, then you will both need to come to an agreement through insurance or personal understanding.

-Spotters are not liable for vehicle damage

    Notes

-CB Channel 22 unless you hear otherwise.

Please post up if you are attending and I will add you here.

POST ALL PICTURES AND VIDEOS IN OUR PIC THREAD HERE: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/showthread.php?t=322654

(Note: I used this thread layout from the Oregon meetup thread that worked very well for coordinating meets. Special thanks to Chickenmunga)

I'm thinking the Pensacola locals can meetup at the Dairy Queen on Scenic Hwy right off exit 17 of I-10 and head to Eglin from there. Sound good?

yeah sounds good. what is required from the base to get on these trails other than the $12 pass. Is active duty exempt from said pass btw?

I have a Cobra 25 and it works great. Very reliable. There is a CB shop by the sheriffs office in town. I was told to look for the big Motorola sign. I need to go there too to get a new Firestick.

ALSO MOUNT IT ON THE LEFT SIDE OF YOUR HOOD. Anywhere on your bed and half your signal is blocked by your cab. Putting it up front with the "spin" of the radio signal allows the signal to spread at maximum capacity in all directions.

I have a wilson flex antenna. Its fiberglass like the firestik but a little longer and more flexible. I mounted it on the side of my toolbox. One time I was able to pick up a guy in ohio from roanoke VA, but conditions were perfect for transmissions that day. Also drove through parking garages in DC with it for almost 8 months so its pretty damn durable.

For mounting I put the mount that comes with it, the long short ubolt looking thing, underneath the carpet on the driver side of the transmission hump. Then cut a slit in the carpet/foam and stuck the prongs through it then bolted the radio to it. It stays out of the way and I can turn it on and adjust it without having to strain too much or look for it. And you have the speaker of it pointed directly at you so you can hear it without being muffled. Then you can run the coax cable under the carpet and out the rubber grommet where the bottle jack goes, up between the cab and bed, and then attached to the antenna using a 90 degree mount.

Everyone has done it a little different and this is just what worked for me.

so did you guys just want to meet up a the Jackson Guard? I think that would just be easier and there are 2 spots on the other side of the base the I have come across that I turned around on because I was on my own, both are on the same trail, but the first one I wanted to check out was further down the main trail

I got a friend to join. He is not a toco owner but still a chill person. He will be riding in a mid 2000's chevy 1500 with a small lift and 33"s and likes to take it easy on the trails. also CB equiped. I figured we could show him what a real offroad machine is. lol

got my running boards removed and ready to go wheelin saturday. So since I have a CB, but I dont have an antenna, what would be the easiest way to communicate on the trails? because there's no way im going to find an antenna unless I go to radio shack today and buy one of theirs and a mount with a coax cable and get it installed tomorrow, and I really dont feel like spending that money as well right now, need to wait for payday

You could buy the antenna and cable and just jimmy-rig it then actually install it later how you want to
