A 'performance chip' is installed in the ECU.

There are no Tacoma performance chips .

Whatever you have, it's not that.

"This" chip, well, how you supposed that someone can say exact instructions without any knowledge what "chip" you have?
Waste of time anyways, except if this "chip" is URD MAF Calibrator (I don't know is it available for 1st gen).

Yes that's what I have is a 1st gen. I still agent installed it I'm going to send it back. I've heard more negative than positive mainly it's a waste doesn't really do anything at all so I'm gonna get my money back.

If you cut into your MAF wire it may corrode, learned that the hard way and those chips don't really help performance.

If you cut into the wires don't use crimp connectors that come with the kit, hard wire any connections with solder and heatshrink.
