Yes another headlight bulb topic lol. I can't seem to find a good comparison on here with these two bulbs. I'm new to the Tacoma scene. The stock lighting on these trucks aren't great and I can't stand the yellow oem halogen look.

I don't have upgraded projector headlights, but both of these LED bulbs are suppose to have an excellent light displacement (not blinding on-coming traffic). Has anyone installed these and recommends either bulb?

    H4 12953BWX2 PHILIPS X-TREME ULTINON LED BULB
    or
LMZ PLATINUM 45W HIGH OUTPUT LED H4

Another thought I've had is to get the VLED switchback driving lights and just rock a higher end halogen for the main headlight. However, those bulbs don't last as long and long term would cost as much as just getting the higher quality LEDs to begin with.

    Thoughts?

No one has any input on either of these bulbs?

I'll comment on the Phillips LED's. I happen to love mine. Work very well and have a distinctive cutoff beam. I advise adjusting your lamps after installation just to insure the aim. I don't regret the $$ output if they last because they are "light years" ahead of the stock output.

Thanks for your input weendoggy. I'm impressed with some of the reviews I've read, but obviously much better hearing it from a Taco owner!

Stop! There is a huge difference between the products you are looking at.

The unshielded LMZ LEDs are equivalent in design to the Opt7s. DO NOT BUY without a projector retrofit. Read about that here:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/why-leds-should-not-be-run-in-halogen-reflectors.454371/

The Philips are light years better, read about that here:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-ultimate-headlight-upgrade-vs-philips-led-headlights.460313/

Both options fail to outperform the Ultimate Headlight Upgrade, read about that here:

Many high line cars/trucks with LED's failed lighting tests. Go with high output H4's and adjust the lights properly. After all most 10 years my 100 watt H4's burned out after being in my 97 (E spec lamps) and then in my 11.

What year is your Taco? I think the stock lights on a 2013 TRD Sport work awesome. I hardly ever use the brights because the low beams and fogs provide a lot of light output.

I've got a 2013 Off-Road. Maybe I've been spoiled owning Audi's in the past 17 years, but the stock lights on these trucks are the only thing I'm really not happy with. Part of my complaint is the color of the OEM bulbs, I can't stand the yellow halogen look.

Thanks for the link crashburn80. Looks like I should either tackle that project, or spend the money on a set of retrofit headlights.

You think they're bad in our Tacoma's, I drove my in-laws Freestyle the other night and I would've done better with my flashlight! She's definitely getting better lights for Christmas. Of course, she's half blind now anyway. :)

That surprises me. I have a 2014 and the stock headlights are great.
When people fail to dim their lights coming toward me, I say "Commence retinal burn", then flash my high beams to them. They always dim them pretty quickly and my wife always chuckles.
Of all the vehicles I own or have ever owned, my Taco's are the best.

All depends on your relative comparison to what you drove previously. Personally I would not call the stock headlights great.

Oh, I get it. It still surprises me.
Maybe you should put Audi bulbs in it........

The light output is the best I've seen in any vehicle. If you change the bulbs, you are doing it for aesthetics only.
