Yes, the rule is you cant run onto the field. What would have happened to the kid if the cops aim was off and one of the prongs shot into the back of the kids head. I saw the video there running and turning. I understand the rule, but I think the cop could have made a better decision. There's probbably a reason that noone else has been tased for this in the past.

I want to know your solution to the problem? If they'd tackled him, they could have hurt him... and people like you would be all pissed off b/c they used excessive force.

What then? What do they do that will both remove the dipshit from the field of play, and appease the pussies in the world that are so damn concerned w/ the rights of the morons like him?

so unlawful physical violence behind the scenes is better than lawful taser deployment that prevents more injuries than it causes?

    this

no offense rich...but no one is obviously not a threat until they are detained and transported

and tasers are 1 shot per cartridge but cartridges are fairly easy to change on the run

    this too

how do you know it would or wouldnt be dangerous to chase the kid? as a couple people have referenced people have been attacked in sporting venues before...and weapons can be snuck in...he couldve very easily continued to run...get tackled...and then stabbed the cop...what then? now the justified level of force is escalated to lethal force...and a stadium full of fans may watch someone get shot

using a taser on a person who is resisting verbally, defensively, or who is actively aggressive towards an officer has been shown by courts to be justified

if the kid (who in SC would be considered an adult as far as being charged with crimes at 17) broke a law and then continued to flee after the officer told him to stop...then the officer is completely justified in deploying the taser

i quite frankly dont see the harm in it...it kept the kid from getting hurt, it kept the security crew from getting hurt, and it kept the officer from getting hurt

i am also amused at those of you who immediately call the guy a security guard/rent-a-cop/etc...thats what the other folks in dark blue shirts are i believe

and i ESPECIALLY love those that called him lazy and fat because he didnt run down the kid

im 27 years old...run approx a 7 min mile with gear on...and i prefer taser over chasing and tackling any day of the week because my goals for the day every day are the following

    1: enforce the law
    2: not get hurt
    3: go home safe

sorry if some punk kid who "just wants to have fun" got his feelings hurt and ruins "just having fun" for the rest of you...but he probably had a pretty good idea of what would happen when he jumped on the field...maybe not the tasing...but he at least had to know he'd be getting a free ride to the city/county motel

The little bastard deserved a good tasing, however, I wasn't aware that Rent-A-Cops were allowed to use Tasers. And that fatass (the Rent-A-Cop) while has admirable accuracy to be able to down a moving target like that, could benefit by some cardio.

Remember rule number one in zombie land...cardio!

So now you've changed the justification to: Alternative means of stopping the kid may have hurt him. Therefore, shoot the kid with a taser. Hahahahahaha! This is great. (But quickly losing its allure.)

You're right dude [more sarcasm]...there's no middle ground. Either everyone's with the cop, or they're pussies.:jerkoff:

just for reference...Tasers are considered "less-lethal" because there are some reported cases that involve MANY other factors that can POSSIBLY cause death...such as excited delirium stemming from some sort of drug use + adrenaline of running/fighting/etc...or falling after being hit with the taser

do tell...please sir...when weighing ALL factors and possible scenarios that cops have to flip thru in their head and make a split second decision with...what you would do now that you can sit back and arm chair quarterback a trained officer

what wouldve happened if a probe had struck him in the head? not much different...it wouldve stuck there just like they did in his back and wouldve needed EMS to remove it

no stronger "effects" of the incapacitation

I'm not justifying the tasing by saying that other means would have hurt him.... I'm asking you how they could have stopped him that had ZERO risk of injury to him, which seems to be what you want.

Please tell me what you would have done.

    1: You're speaking in hypotheticals.
    2: Are you a lawyer?
3: I've already covered the "may have hurt the kid" justification...see previous posts.

    I'm right, and yer wrong.:)

See previous post: Trip him. But it's hard to provide a solution b/c there's nothing to solve at this point...the cop f'ed up. The end.
