    I thought about swapping my upper for a Spikes, but they're backordered ~8wks! I found a friend of a friend to buy my older DPMS Lo-Pro and the Recon is in stock locally. Why the hell not?! :D

    You will be very happy! I have DPMS Oracle (Although, you wouldnt be able to tell from everything I done to it) but I am very happy with the DPMS. I was kinda wondering if I would have buyers remorse for not going back to S&W or any of the other top tier makers, but none at all.

    Yeah, this is my second DPMS and I've been very pleased. I previously had a Lo-Pro Classic (which I sold to buy this) and really enjoyed shooting it. The heavy bull barrel with a rail system and attachments just made it too heavy for casual shooting though. The Recon has a great weight, plus comes off the shelf with all the Magpul stuff I would've bought for it anyways. Going to the range for a little barrel break-in tonight!! :D

    How do you like the AFG? I've got a Magpul vertical rail grip but have been thinking about swapping for the AFG. It seems a little more streamlined.

    I like it a lot. I may go with the AFG-2 since I only have carbine length rails and its not as far forward as I would like. CTD has the AFG-2 in Flat Dark Earth eventhough Magpul doesnt list it for some reason.

    just so everyone knows, if you plan on buying a flat top m4, the magpul MBUS sights WILL NOT work if the front sight is mounted to the gas block instead of the foregrip. my friend has a DPMS flat top and the front sight post wouldnt go high enough to be sighted in because the gas block sits about 1/4 inch lower than the upper receiver picatinny rail

    A buddy of mine ran into this also. He ended up keeping the rear MBUS and putting a pop-up YHM front site that was tall enough to mount on the gas block.

    FYI!!! DON'T put a MAGPUL or any polymer part on the gas block. It WILL melt. I think Magpul even states is somewhere on their web site. That's one reason I replaced my low pro railed gas block (staggered, and couldn't line up front and rear BUIS) with a Yankee Hills Gas block with flip up front sight. It was expensive, but it is a quality part, YHM has well known reliability, and it solved my alignment issues allowing me to use the MBUS.
