Just ordered my OEM roof rack, and just got an Perception Pescador 10 sit on top Kayak.

Interested in seeing your set ups of just OEM racks. I went to the Official Kayak thread, but nothing specific to this.

    Thanks

If you're wondering how well it'll handle your yak, it should be fine if it's alone up there. Anything else an upgrade to aftermarket or at least aftermarket crossbars.

If its any use to you, I have a 14 ft. canoe which I tie directly to the OEM racks. I put the cane upside down on the racks and use a tie down strap for each cross bar, then a front and rear tie down to the trailer hitch and front hook. I have never had the canoe move even going 75mph.

The only suggestion I would make is to use a small piece of foam, or cloth to cushion the front strap where it touches the hood. If you don't protect the paint, the strap will rub off the clear coat.

anti lock brake disable mod, fogtime anytime mod, Leer Topper, all pro plate bumper, toytec 3 inch lift, bfg AT, rims, piaa 5100's, some double din head unit (cant remember), warn 8000 winch, DO sliders, hacked frame to fit full size spare, thule and yakima roof racks
flip it upside down get some NRS straps and it will be fine. Ive been kayaking all my life never had an issue. I have had multiple vehicles with OEM and after market racks for one or two boats it makes no diffrence

Subbed, I'm interested in possibly buying OEM bars and a couple of Kayaks this summer...

My understanding is that the Baja rack is sturdier/holds more weight but I think OEM looks way better... much sleeker. The Baja rack looks a little off to me. Doesnt quite flow like the OEM one. Plus I hear it's louder when driving?

One question: Where do you tie-off in the front? I'd worry about scratches if a rope had to be in contact with the paint... are there points under the hood? Or better yet can you buy some kind of bracket that attaches under the hood but sticks out above it? I'm new to this!!

Love these pics, keep them coming!

you dont need a bowline, the boats are tapered so they wont slide forward or back.. I have drove 1000s of miles without a bow line with no issue

I've seen several of you have your kayaks upside down while transporting....then I've seen them right side up.

    Are there advantages?
