This is by far my favorite tacoma thread.

I have owned my 2001 tacoma for 11 years now and am finally in the place to begin modifying it. I have done PM work and OEM repairs but now I would like to lift it, new wheels/tires and an ARB bumper.

My question is how tall/wheel size can you go before needing to re-gear and/or the fuel mileage falling off completely?

It’s really preference, there are people on 33s and stock gears all the time. But it was noticeable to me definitely. I have 4.88 gears and 295/70/17 tires.

Hey guys, I need some help. Looking to lift my truck about 3”, but I want it to look level from front to rear. I have a AAL spring and adjustable shackles with rear bilstein shocks. Thinking of just buying a new leaf spring kit and some 3” adjustable bilstein coilovers. What do you guys suggest I lift the front and rear to? The picture is our current stance

Ebay. I hate to love them as much as I do because they were cheap and I really hope the lenses will last. The corner light and headlights look way better as a single piece like. The orange corner lights came out of the second gen I had for a while and plugged right in

Here's a little update. My lift finally shipped and and I'm trying to address some of the rust issues while I am taking things apart so it will be a nice clean build when I'm done IMG_20210331_214021__01.jpg

I’m curious what size tires those are? I like the width.

Stock as it was when I bought it in 2015. I’m the 2nd owner.

I lifted and did my best to level it with Bilstein 5100s all around. Fronts set to 0 paired with OME 881 coils. Rear got the J59 leaf spring pack from Deaver. *and running slightly oversized tires 265/75/16

I can’t leave this thing alone!

Looks great. I don't want to screw with drive angles/etc. and cause joint wear problems.
Can you PM with exactly what you did? The rear of my truck seems squishy and saggy....I'd like to gain a little more capacity and rake. Front...gain a little?
What should I purchase? All new rear leaf springs and AAL and shocks? Front: new shocks AND springs???

Want to be able to possibly step up in tire size as you did....Nice ride!

Thanks! Labor of love. I will send you a message for sure, but I am not a professional mechanic. Just an enthusiast that enjoys learning and improving my truck.

I understand. I want to "restore" my truck to some original + kind of capabilities. I want to be able to drive it down a road and then go down a trail. Not looking to rock crawl or do anything crazy. Want a little better stance and payload before she sags. I like the way yours looks! And, I can't justify spending $2000 on suspension upgrades....
