It's the last day for comments to the draft environmental impact statement (EIS) for the Pike & San Isabel (PSI) National Forest MVUM analysis.

Basically, a lawsuit from 2011 which was settled in 2015 about improper additional of roads/trails to MVUMs required completion of an EIS for a huge number of roads/trails in the PSI. The FS just released their draft EIS, and the current preferred alternative B will close a large number of roads and trails (33.74%). The best options as of now is alternative C (4.07% reduction), with modifications. There's still a number of popular or notable trails that are slated to be closed. I recommend watching some of the videos that CORE has put out.

CORE has some great info on the specifics, and has submitted a large number of public comments about specific trails. You can reference these comments in your comment if you support what they're trying to do:

Remember to make your comments substantive ("keep the trails open" doesn't count) and to recommend a specific course of action ("I support alternative C with modification as proposed by CORE").

Again, this has to be done today if you want your voice heard!
