I have the Pioneer 6600 nex in my Taco and I'm adding a Natika camera to the front. I've got it working but I'm not sure how to correctly power it. I had wired it directly to my aux panel power, but without a "trigger" it's just continually drawing power, which obviously isn't optimal.

The camera did have a trigger wire on it, but I'm not locating a trigger on the 6600 nex. Did I overlook this? Should I just tap into the rear camera power wire?

I attached a relay to a buss bar, which I used to power multiple accessories in the vehicle.. The relay turn-on signal comes from the amp power turn on wire from the 6600 head unit. Since I always have my radio working whenever I'm in the car, the front camera power is energized and available.
The following from that buss bar: Radar Detector, Front camera (GEMS unit), GMS radio.

The amp turn on wire is rated at .8amps. If you want to tun on multiple items, you should consider a relay and a buss bar. I run my cameras (front and rear), dashcam (front and rear), amp (x2), and radar detector. I use the amp turn on to set the relay, powering the buss bar directly from the battery.

very good to know. For my front camera, all i’d need to do is crimp the power wire from the camera to the amp turn on?

By itself, the amp turn on wire off your head unit will provide sufficient switched power for your front camera.

And I do mine a little differently since my accessories include some USB chargers unrelated to the Pioneer. I switch fused lower off the poutlet1 circuit via the OEM 12v socket terminals and use a high current relay to send power from my aux battery to a fuse block under my cupholders. That feeds my seat heaters, front camera, Germes and usb chargers.

I use a PAC module to send remote turn on to the amplifier(s) I ran wire for but still sit BNIB waiting for me to install some day. The pac module adds protection to avoid overdraft on the remote circuit but is total overkill really and just extra bling for the f of it.

What would be the limit for the turn on wire? For the moment, I just picked up a nakita front camera and a new 1200 watt 4 channel amp. Maybe down the line i’d add a mono block.
