I tried putting some washers in behind the mounting bracket but it didn’t change the angle much. Maybe some plastic spacers. Might have to fiddle around this weekend.

Just an FYI, you can get the 5500 kit on eBay for less than $40 if you did want to start over... I feel like if you were able to tilt the bottom forward somehow it would fit a lot better.

Thanks. I took a shot at adding some 1/4" spacers (I had to take it apart to connect GPS shark fin anyway).

Good call! It did tilt the bottom enough to fill the gap (also required removing some additional material on the back of the faceplate). It also seemed to have widened the gap on the top a bit but I think that is fixable (filler or new plate where I don't remove too much).

Definitely looks a lot better at that angle man! Keep us posted if you make any more modifications.

This thread is awesome, got my unit installed today and I'm very pleased! A couple questions I was hoping you all could help me out with:

    1. I didnt use the RCA adapter Crutchfield recommends. What did yall use that for?
    2. I had the non-JBL basic HU and my mounting brackets were different than those with the Entune touchscreen radio. Any idea where you all would recommend buying the factory brackets for the entune radio?

For 2, photos? I thought all the head units used the same metal brackets. I can direct you to a link with photos of the brackets and how I mounted my 6600 if that's of value?

The RCA to 3.5mm adapter is used if you want to keep the OEM USB + Aux-In 3.5mm jack which is done as a size small Toyota switch (in terms of form factor). With wireless carplay it's nearly useless unless you have some old school ipod or mp3 player you wish to use.

Thanks, I figured that was the case. See photos below, and if you could shoot a link with photos that would be great!

Thanks, there are few minor differences. But I was eager to get the unit in and working and just ended up using the AI brackets. I have to crack it all open again to install the XM tuner at some point so I will probably try to drill some new spots based on those pics - thanks!

Do most people leave the brains of the XM tuner behind the dash? And then use the Datalink connectors to tap into the factory shark fin?

I am not sure. I abandoned sat radio long ago. I suspect that is a very viable option.

So I got mine installed and they took the front camera completely out. Is it weird to expect a pro to not do that or should I take it back?

If installing in a 2019 with stock JBL system which speaker mode should I pick? Standard? Network?

Has anyone had any issues with the OEM backup camera? I'm using Maestro RR and TOY3 harness. All appear to be wired correctly, I've reflashed the Maestro Unit twice and I still just get a blank screen when putting it in reverse. TIA!

--Side note, I've also noticed my "SOS" button remains red instead of going blue after startup. I assumed this is cause I'm not using the OEM GPS so I ordered that adapter.

    COOL Stuff I can't afford . . . But I bought anyway!
I believe you'll need the Network option. Standard will send a wattage signal to the amp, network should send a flat signal similar to pre-amp outputs. But I'm not 100% on this b/c I ditched the entire JBL setup and went full-tilt boogie with dual infinity amps and speakers.

Check the backup camera video signal setting, tap the film icon under the setting menu to access. Make sure its set to AUTO, if it already is, play with the other settings (NTSC, PAL, PAL M, etc...) until it works.

Can't help with the SOS issue.
