Installed the Pioneer P3300BT this past week and thought I'd share some pics for anyone who might be interested in this head unit. Apologies that I did not take any photos during the install.

    Items used in the install...
    Pioneer P3300BT
    Pioneer CD-IU50V USB Cable
Metra Axxess ASWC Universal Steering Wheel Interface
    Metra 99-8214TG Dash Kit
    Scosche TA02B Wiring Harness

Parking Brake Bypass items from my local Radio Shack
    30Amp Auto Relay Item # 275-0226
1/4" Insulated Crimp-On Connectors Item # 64-3133 - Contains male and female connectors, you only need the female connectors.

Bypass is simple to wire, ground to pins 86 and 87, stereo's blue remote wire to 85, and the stereo's green parking brake wire to 30. This video is all I needed...

Pioneer 3300BT Installed - The button and screen color is customizable with 5 or 6 different color choices. There are also various backgrounds to choose from, I have chosen a blank background.

    Close up...

Pandora... The Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down buttons are present for fine tuning your channels. Album art showing is a nice touch. The Magnifying Glass to the right pulls up your station list for changing Pandora stations.

Ipod... The Magnifying Glass to the right pulls up the Search menu for the Ipod where you can search on Artist, Album, Song, etc. The App button in the bottom right allows you to control the iPod directly and choose other apps such as Netflix, Youtube or Motion X for Navigation. I can stream audio from Slacker radio, but there is no integration like there is for Pandora.

Video... If I had an iPhone 4 or an iPad I could stream Netflix. Unfortunately, the 3GS doesn't support Netflix video streaming so here's a picture of Youtube streaming...

I was going get the XM Satellite add-on for the stereo, but I've enjoyed the Pandora so much that I may just save that money and use Pandora. I guess the biggest Con of this stereo is that I've tied myself to using an iPhone for the foreseeable future.

If you have any questions let me know and I'll try my best to answer them.

I could be wrong, but I think you need to get the x920BT in order to stream music. That is one of the things I was looking at and you cant stream with the 3300BT or the 4300.

You can stream music over bluetooth with the p4300dvd and the bluetooth addon, but not with the p3300bt.

The benefit of having the cable is direct control of the ipod via the radio interface, streaming of video, and better sound as the cable enables the stereo to process the music via the stereo's built in DAC.

Do a mic come with the stero or do you even need one for the bluetooth?

Yeah, a mic comes with the stereo on the 3300BT to use for the phone/blue tooth. However, if you're going to configure your speakers with the head unit, you're going to need an external mic which you buy separately.

Great write up! I'm looking at getting this deck. Do you have any plans to install the NAV option?

I just bought the 3300 from crutchfield.com! Looking forward to it coming in the mail! It should be a fun install given that this is my first foray into installing a car stereo!:D

Put the AVHP3300BT this weekend and wow, except I thought it had an USB out on the back to run my Ipod to my glove box or console - guess I can run it off the interface. I got the dash kit that is gray like the air vent surrounds and the ac/heater knobs - fit and looked great, just save your clips from the factory. I had the relay so vids are ready to go......of course I would never watch one in drive ;);)

I went with 2 Kenwood 6x9's and 2 Kenwood 6.5's - will add a small amp and woof later.

Beats that sucky stock model - when I saw the stock speakers out of the doors, I couldn't believe it, they're paper with very little metal - ugh.

Just go to Napa or Autozone and ask for a 4-wire relay, got mine at Napa for $9, hope this helps.

The relay will have numbers written on the bottom for each pin. The wire from the parking brake from the H/U to 87. Ground to 85 and 30. Remote from the H/U to 86. This will give you an automatic bypass to the DVD lockout. If you want to just put a switch to do this manually you can also. Go to Radio Shack and buy a momentary push button switch, part number 275-1548. Take the green wire coming out of the unit. Strip the wire, and attach it to one of of the pins on the relay switch. It doesn't matter which one. Buy a standard 16 gauge wire from Radio Shack and connect it to the other pin on the switch, then connect the other end of it to a grounded connection on your vehicle. Now, when you play a DVD, the warning screen will come on. Just press the button on the switch and it will go away,

Hey, thanks! I'll look into that! I like the idea of having a button although I'd have to decide where I'd want to put it. Thanks for the info! I'm still waiting for the HU to come in the mail (went with the free shipping), should be here Friday!

I'm trying to following what the video is instructing, but according to the diagram I have attached, which matches the relay I'm using, I don't think I have the same pole layout as the soundman guy. Can someone verify what should be connected where using this style of relay for the bypass?

I can't remember verbatim what I did to get my bypass to work. I know that I wrote down instruction as to which pins were connected to which, but when it came time to test it, the bypass did not work. I ended up using the YouTube video that is in Post #1. Towards the end of the video, the camera zooms in to the bypass. We ended up just duplicating what we saw in the video and when we tested it and it worked. Have you given that a try?

I did the parking brake by-pass with my AVH-P2400BT and the dvd works(I don't watch while driving, just wanted the bluetooth phone key pad to be available) but it won't let me do the auto-equallization with the mic. Get a message about not being able to do it while driving. Not sure why it works for dvd but not the other.
