Why pit bikes? The bikes for meant for young riders just starting out may look diminutive next to the 450-cc motocross monsters typically seen in professional competition, but in keeping with the spirit of Nitro Circus events, they presented a fun challenge for the racing veterans.

“Pit bikes are just fun, hands down,” says Gieger, who was the first female racer ever to compete in the Motocross of Nations and won X Games’ inaugural women’s motocross event in 2008.

“You can’t take yourself seriously when you hop on a bike that is built for a child learning to ride,” Gieger adds. “It leads to some pretty crazy racing, since the speeds are slower than normal motocross racing. If you go in for a pass and just nail someone as hard as you can, you know you aren’t going to hurt each other. No one is going to hold back for any reason, and it leads to edge-of-your-seat racing.”

Wonder if this will catch on worldwide?

Pit bikes have been a thing for ~60 years. Pastrana recently had a 110 world championship at his house. In the early 2000's, we were building 110s for pros to have fun on, put KX100 forks on 110s.
