I don't really want to spend $2,000.00 and more to cut 1/2 inch mild steel.
    any thoughts?

    I'm personally a fan of Hypertherm. I'd grab a PowerMax 30XP https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K58EC4W/ref=psdc_3753921_t3_B018UQZZLE
We run the PowerMax 85 in our shop(on CNC table with machine torch, also have hand torch), I've also owned the PowerMax 65 and am currently borrowing a 45 for a small hand cutting project. All have been great

If you want to save a few $$ I've heard good things of this chinese machine as well. https://www.amazon.com/AHP-AlphaCut...8&qid=1518913253&sr=8-1&keywords=alpha+cut+50

As well as this chinese machine https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074KMD3L...6a&pd_rd_r=HQZ6G4GCVJY3RDQFSARM&pd_rd_w=CyCCk

yeah, hypertherm is my upper limit.
really hoping the LOTOS machine would measure up at half the cost.
maybe I just need to PAY UP!!

If you can`t justify a real plasma (Hypertherm) maybe farm all your cutting needs out to someone that has one.

I am old fashioned if it is not Aluminum or Stainless I go for my Oxy- Fuel torch first.

The only difference being turn on the torch or flip the switch of my Hypertherm
