So I been looking at some trucks and will be buying one in about a month. I've found several that I liked but the paint is faded on the hood and roof. I know plasti dip is an option. How durable is it. I'm in Florida and the sun and heat is rough on paint. I'm not interested in getting a new paint job on whatever I get because it will be going off road. How is the plasti dip hold up to the woods, branches, mud, est? Thanks.

Pretty good. It holds up better once it's fully cured, which will happen faster in the sun.

I'm going to be redoing my car soon. I experimented a bit with it, did if when it was below freezing. It got muddy before it was cured entirely and its a pain to clean. Looked really good though. This was definitely not a rattle can job.

Ive done a few spray bombs also. It looks about the same as when i did it a couple years ago.

Almost 1.5 years on my dipped truck. See my build thread link in my sig.

It's good practice to detail the dip with turtle wax ice spray wax to keep the finish smooth and less rubbery after washing. Tree branches will scratch the dip some, but not tear it off in most cases unless you're really scraping it. Scratches can be masked with the Ice wax. Mud is a bitch to clean off, it's best to use a mix of simple green and car wash soap to wash it off. Easy touch up process if some of the dip gets nicked off, starts to come up, or whatever.

Once youve got a few coats on its pretty durable. Ive even dipped one of my sleds and its been on 2 winters. You can actually buy a "top coat" that makes it more durable and paint like.

Are you planning on doing whole truck or just hood/roof

Im not sure. I'm looking at trucks now. I'm weighing all options while looking. A lot of them has paint issues so it's something that I'm figuring in my budget. I'm not going to spend the money on a new paint job. I have a company vehicle so this will be my weekend ride. Of course I still want it to look nice too.
