Looks great and together with a derped chrome rear bumper, would transform an SR5 from a Sonic drive-in hot rod into a serious looking truck.

Its probably just me, but I don't like derped grills. Flat/satin derp hugged up against glossy paint just looks cheap to me. Derp aside, it would be the same if it was painted flat/satin. They just dont mix like tires and rims flat/satin do.

I can't imagine the derpmeister himself choosing chrome over derp on Spruce Green!

I wouldn't say wrong, Fonzie from DYC (on his how to vids) claims that taking a plain microfiber cloth will remove overspray, even from tires. I've never used that, but then again my rims had no tires on them at all when I did it. Maybe take some GooGone on a paper towel and wipe it off and then BlecheWite tire cleaner and a stiff bristle brush to get that off? :notsure:

Just take a dry cloth towel to rub off excess on tire.

Something else I have experimented with is with the hot 110 degree Texas heat the derp being black has a very mild fade after 5 months being on and I used Armor All Foam on tire and derp on rim and looks like new again. Just wipe any excess foam with microfiber towel.

True. We should only ever have one thread on one topic. Therefore when new questions or ideas arise, we should resurrect 5 year old threads to ask "can I do it this way." I believe, thanks to many other users help, this thread has enlightened many and educated even more on the basics as well as the more involved tips on how to properly plasti-dip.

As we say in the Army "The only dumb question is the one that goes unasked."

There's more than one way to skin a cat.

I spent literally days online wheel shopping for my new 13. I thought I would sell my stockz and invest into some aftermarket black rims. I couldnt find something I loved and happily saved around $600 by just derping. I love the results and couldnt be happier. Now if you have your eyes set on a pretty set... Get them! And sell the originals on here, or craigslist.

I'm glad you started a new one, spray cans are a lot cheaper than new black wheels. :)

It won't "come off" as much as it could "peel off." And if done right, this will be a non issue. Scrub away on it all day, as long as you arent using a metal bristle pad you'll be fine. If you ever knick it then simply touch up like it was nothing. Too easy.
