My Parents last year at the "Ride" My mom may kill me for posting this.

In 2011 my father was diagnosed with MDS. My dad was 58 then. He had retired the previous year, it was kind of early but had to get out of his job for other health concerns. He has all these plans with my mom when she retires. They are still so in love after 44 years. He has always been someone I look up to. He worked between 60 and 70 hrs a week when I was a kid, but still had the time & energy to be our soccer coach, Boy Scout leader and a great father among other things. I know I am fortunate to have him for 38 yrs and more to come thanks to the care he received through Roswell Park Cancer Institute. He received a bone marrow transplant that saved his life. Without the knowledge and care of the BMT team, and my uncle for donating, he wouldn't be here today. I rode last year and it was very inspiring. In a short amount of time, and effort, I was able to raise $660!!! This year I hope to raise $1000 and be eligible to ride in the Peloton. It is a 12 mile ride from Roswell to the University of Buffalo where the festivities start. My dad told me the other night he can't wait to see me ride into the stadium at UB. The family at TW is one of the best. I have turned here a few times, when the going got rough, and you offered so many caring words. So please help me achieve this goal. Anything you can give is so very much appreciated. And make sure you hug your parents, or a cancer victim, as they need it and deserve it. Thank you all for your support. If you are able, please donate below...

    You're welcome man...

Lost my father about 18 months ago to cancer & for a different reason my son had a bone marrow transplant at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad, and I hope your son is on the road to recovery. If I may ask, was it a stem cell transplant?

That is an amazing procedure. I was kind of in aww that it worked, and how it does. I'm truly amazed at how far medicine has come. That's great news about your son!!

I am 57% to my goal already!!!! I truly appreciate all who have donated to get me to this point. I just need a little more help to get over that hump and break my goal to be eligible to ride in the Peloton. Thank you all so very much for your support.

UPDATE: Thanks to so many for their generous donations, I have reached my original goal. I have registered in the Peloton, and just have to complete a qualifying ride to be in, I believe. Without my donors help, I would not be in such a great position. I thank you all for your support!!
